It's not like Google makes any money on the sale of an Android device, anyhow. If I'm not mistaken, Microsoft is the main company to make money off of the sale of an Android device ... via patents.
And, speaking of MS, they are doing the same thing as Google by making their software (Office) and services available for FREE on both Android and iOS devices.
So, Google is playing the same game. But, since they only control around 80% of mobile device operating systems, they don't want to miss out on remaining share that Apple dominates with iOS.
Bring it on. I get it.
