CHRISTOPHER DUDLEY commented on a post on Blogger.
There's a lot of good advice in there. I'll start putting my content to the test a little more rigourously.

This might be fun. It's no Bones, but I don't think we'll see another Bones.
Since I know how well Psionics sells, this should be a no-brainer: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/197021008/psionic-miniatures

This is good to know, since I've used this site for pretty much every freaking Pathfinder game I've run or played since this site went up.
Ok folks, I was cryptic before but that was before we knew for sure what was going on. Here's the deal. Once we opened the d20pfsrd.com estore Paizo changed their opinion towards d20pfsrd.com to where they now feel the site is no longer Pathfinder Community Use Policy compliant. We disagreed since the two are essentially completely separate things, but it makes no difference, that's their opinion.

So as a result we had some decisions to make. Some of those options included close the store, shut down d20pfsrd.com, or transfer ownership of one or the other to someone else. I, John Reyst, as the owner of both, after having invested significant (to put it lightly) resources, time, and energy into both, have no interested in giving up ownership of either one. That left only one viable option: Convert d20pfsrd.com from being a Pathfinder Community Use Policy-oriented website to one that is compliant with the Pathfinder Compatibility License, essentially defining d20pfsrd.com as a commercial product and I, as the owner of the site, a "publisher."

I should have seen this coming for some time in all honesty because for many months now Paizo has been moving my threads on the Paizo boards from wherever I post them into the "Compatible Products from Other Publishers" section. Anyway, now its kind of official, we're a publisher and d20pfsrd.com is a product.

The Upside
Moving to the Pathfinder Compatibility License opens some doors even as it closes others. One of those doors is charging for content. HOWEVER, one thing you will not find is us suddenly charging you for access to the site. That is not going to happen. What MIGHT happen down the line somewhere is we may consider adding new "subscriber-based" options that we were unable to do while attempting to adhere to the Community Use Policy. So.. unfortunately there IS a downside, but perhaps one that won't terribly affect EVERY user.

The Downside
The doors that are now closed... We can no longer use, post, or reference words that are created and owned by Paizo. What does that mean? Well unless a Paizo made-up word appears in one of the products we're allowed to reference (see Pathfinder Compatibility License Exhibit B.) then we can't use that very same word. HOWEVER, as Paizo releases everything as Open Game Content, we can still make use of the mechanics, as per any other OGL product. So, an example of the limitation would be an NPC they include in an adventure path. We can completely reprint all of the mechanics of the NPC, including most of the characters important pieces for use in encounters, but we can't reference that NPC by their original name. So for example we would have to change "Hucker Graul (Ogrekin Human Barbarian 1/Rogue 5)" to "Ogrekin Human Barbarian 1/Rogue 5" and omit any of the NPCs backgorund information that isn't game mechanics. This is CERTAINLY going to have an impact on some of you, but unfortunately it is really our only option at this point.

We'd love to hear any questions you may have, or just discuss this in general so feel free to respond with your thoughts. If this means you're never going to visit the site again we'll really miss having you around but we don't really have much option here.
