Columns

In the city of Ghent, Belgium, there is the Gravensteen Castle built in 1180 with most of its structure intact (which makes me wonder how our modern structures and buildings start to crumble after 20 years of use...). In there, the visitor can find amazing History among its many rooms, narrow stairs, passages, walls, terraces and torture rooms. Up top, visitors can see the roofs of the old city below.

What called my attention though, was this column in a large room used by the countesses in their readings and their conversation with other ladies. Quite dark, with a few (modern) spotlights enhancing details here and there.

By the way, I like the shadow and the light, and this column goes to my collection (http://celsobressan.com/wp/columns/). Because the column is too centered, I used the discrete light at the left to unbalance and create tension in the scene.
