EcoreTools 2.0 - The Luna Revival
With Eclipse Luna comes a complete re-implementation of EcoreTools , the diagram editor for Ecore. This is an important piece of news because EcoreTools is often the first step our adopters have to go through. Users are expecting to have a diagram editor to...

The final Luna release is close ! Only one RC is left to get everything in order.

What happened lately :
* All the modeling projects made sure to be compatible with Guava 15 to avoid integration issues for consumers of several projects.
* The Wizards and UI in EcoreTools have been streamlined to be close  to the previous version so that former users are not too surprised.
* Many components included in the package made sure to be lazy,  they will not be started by Eclipse if you don't use them.
* Projects updated their embedded documentation,  EcoreTools being one of them.
* Every project did the "Release Review" dance,   to filled all the required details : https://projects.eclipse.org/releases/luna/details
* Countless issues have been taken care of

Draft of the New and Noteworthy page for the package :
https://www.eclipse.org/modeling/amalgam/new-noteworthy/luna/

Next week is RC4, the last chance for projects to get some fixes in, then we will enter the "Quiet Week" which will not have any new build except if some new critical issue is found.

We need your help now more than ever,  go download the Modeling package here https://www.eclipse.org/downloads/index-developer.php and trigger a bug if you find any issue here if you can't find your way in the Eclipse Bug Tracker : https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/enter_bug.cgi?product=EPP
I'll make sure to transfert to the projects which are involved.

The next few days  are your  last chance ! We'll have to wait until the Service Release 1 in September after that.

Thanks !

What makes EclipseCon Europe a good conference ?
EclipseCon Europe 2014 is getting close and it will only get harder to book hotel rooms and flights. It's probably time to decide whether you come or not. Let me tell you what you can expect from such an event : Getting in touch with the technology,   the p...

A few changes will find their way in the targetplatform DSL.

1. Just type CTRL-R and the file you are currently editing will be set as the current target platform. This shorten the turnaroud of defining a targetplatform significantly :  add some feature, CTRL-R, see what is still not compiling, adapt, CTRL-R, and so on.

https://github.com/mbarbero/fr.obeo.releng.targetplatform/pull/38

2. This one is for projects participating or depending on the release train. Aren't you tired of hunting down the P2 updates sites you should use if you depend, lets say, on the EMF contribution ? Well there is one place where this information is kept up to date, and its in the b3aggr model which drives the whole aggregation process.

You will now be able to include project contributions directly in your target platform. "I rely on what the amalgam project contributes to Luna"
is just :

include
"http://git.eclipse.org/c/simrel/org.eclipse.simrel.build.git/plain/amalgam.b3aggrcon"

https://github.com/mbarbero/fr.obeo.releng.targetplatform/pull/40

Enjoy !

#EclipseSirius made it to the yearly top ten of +Ian Bull !

Indeed it is the first release of Sirius into the Eclipse Release Train. I can't tell how excited we are to see what you'll do with it.

http://eclipsesource.com/blogs/2014/06/13/sirius-top-eclipse-luna-feature-9/
As we get closer to the ship date of Eclipse Luna, I'm counting down the 10 features of Eclipse 2014 that I'm most excited about. Number 9 on my list is a feature that's close to my heart, graphical modelling. The Sirius project combines modelling and graphical editors – an area that I spent ...
