Gold for Germany at European Team Championships has been 11 years ago. In the final 2017 in Portugal the German selection showed up in brilliant shape and allowed their opponents from Russia to win only three sets in two matches.

Congratulations to the German team, trainers and association – as well as to the Russian team!

While the Russian junior boy's team had to accept the loss of the final, the Russian Junior girls managed to beat Romania in the final 3:0 (three times 3:2). Thank you very much for this great entertainment so far and congratulations to all medalists!

Once more Portugal appeares to be an amazing host and location for big table tennis events.
We are looking forward on next day's individual competitions!

The final of this year's China Open was a very special one. The tournament was in a special light anyway because of three best Chinese top players who puting down their rackets in protest against the abolition of the national trainer Liu Guoliang. Thus, in the final game of the $ 220,000 tournament with Timo BOLL and Dimitrij OVTCHAROV, two Germans were facing - and what they offered the spectators was an amazing final. Timo, who made a 3:3 and 10: 6 draw from a 1:3, but did not use his matchballs and thus could not repeat his performance from 2006, anyway became the hero of our hearts thanks to his outstanding combative performance. We thank both for a great final and congratulate Dima on a prestigious title!

Now Borussia Düsseldorf is going for a world record by trying to make Düsseldorf the "longest table tennis bar" as well – by playing table tennis on 300 beer tables all around the ancient city center! (The attempt starts tomorrow at 11:30am at the "Burgplatz" in Düsseldorf). Click here to have a look at how it looks like:

WTTC 2017: Reigning Olympic champion MA Long and Timo BOLL will pair up again at this year's World Championships in Dusseldorf from May 29 to June 5. Click the video for other pairings

"I'm very excited to be playing with Timo for the Men's Doubles event", MA Long said. "It's a pity that we lost in the second round in 2015. Actually, we played well and we had chances back then. I hope that Timo will be playing his best form on home soil and I will value this opportunity again to play well in the event."

Timo BOLL stated: "I am looking forward to our second attempt at a World Championships. On one hand, I have a good contact with MA Long also away from the table. On the other hand, our performances at the China Open 2013, as well as in 2015 in Suzhou, brought great and memorable moments for both of us, even if our success had different results. Now, we have a third attempt in my home country. This is another wonderful and very fine career highlight for me to play with MA Long at home soil in Dusseldorf."

Good luck!
