Swamp Milkweed (Asclepias incarnata) is such a beautiful host plant for the Monarch Butterfly! It's versatile too and can be grown in very moist soils as well as gardens that receive regular watering. Get your #milkweed #seeds here: http://bit.ly/Izo60g

Swamp Milkweed (Asclepias incarnata) is an excellent host plant for the Monarch Butterfly. Don't be fooled by the name. While this species can be grown in swampy conditions, it will also do just fine in gardens that receive regular watering. Get your #milkweed #seeds here: http://bit.ly/Izo60g

Want to plant milkweed in a wooded area or a location that only gets morning sun? Poke Milkweed (Asclepias exaltata) is one of the few milkweed species that does not require full sun. Get your #milkweed #seeds here: http://bit.ly/1g9KxEg

The flower colors within a single species of milkweed can vary quite a bit. Check out the faint pink, nearly white, Common Milkweed (Asclepias syriaca) blooms I encountered on a trip to Kansas! #milkweed

Here is a Monarch caterpillar on Common Milkweed (Asclepias syriaca). The caterpillars will actually consume the blooms in addition to the leaves. Thought this would be a good fun fact to kick off 2014. Happy New Year from Butterfly Encounters! #milkweed  #monarch #butterfly
