It's Here! Cracking day for #GetReady Weekend!

We're kick starting it with a small HR on Lake Road. Smoke will be visible in the area from around 9:30!

Don't forget to come and say hello tomorrow from 11, middle of the village next to the supermarket. #NSWRFS

Just back from a quick call just outside the village.
On arrival it was quickly determined we weren't required so we returned home! Thanks for those that turned out, the ice on the windscreen was a bit rude.... #nswrfs

We're at the end of National Volunteer Week and we wanted to highlight that ‪#‎NSWRFS‬ volunteers are from everywhere within our communities. There are a couple more of these on the RFS YouTube page so check them out.

This one in particular should resonate with a few of our members....

Today is the End of the Bushfire Danger Period (Palerang & Queanbeyan). Make sure you know the rules for fires over the cooler months

Great day up at Tidbinbilla Reserve, we worked with a team of ACT Parks and Conservation Firefighters to get a part of a multi day burn in. It was good to work with our colleagues over the border again ‪#‎NSWRFS‬

We had a great joint training session this morning with Fire and Rescue NSW in Queanbeyan to test and refine a set of new standard fire fighting procedures.
We are often working with our full time counterparts so these training sessions help build understanding on both sides allowing us to work more closely when it really matters! Thanks very much to the guys from 428 for this morning, I'm sure we all got a lot out of it!

More than a week with nothing to report on the call out front. This is statistically very unusual for us!
The numbers for 2014 are in and we've somehow managed to go one more than 2013 with a total of 67 for the calendar year. That's one call every 5.45 days making this January a very welcome break indeed!
Other interesting facts: Vehicle related incidents beat Fires, weekends remain the busiest and there is a massive drop in calls on Wednesdays & Thursdays. ‪#‎NSWRFS‬ ‪#‎Infographic‬.
