Bryan, as a teacher I use a chromebook Most of the Time. Only when I have to use specific software I switch to an old Windows laptop :) I prefer the chromebook for its Speed, Wright and stamina.

New event! The 2016 Student Tech Leadership Summit is now accepting presenter proposals. We know you have students in your schools doing amazing things with technology. Let's connect them and share with others across the Chicagoland area. This will be free for all to attend. Keynote by +Jaime Casap

Leyden is hosting another summer symposium/conference from July 27-29, 2016. We have rebranded the event the Innovative Teaching & Learning Symposium because we want the event to reflect what we truly care about... teaching and learning. There will still be plenty of sessions about 1:1 and tech, but there could be some sessions that don't have a strong tech component at all and just focus on some real cool teaching and learning concepts/ideas/projects.

Registration is currently open as well as our call for presenters. Presenters will get complimentary registration for the entire symposium.

At $212.00, it's one of the best PD bargains you can find. The three keynotes alone are worth the price of admission.

Hello everyone.  I'm the Director of Technology for Leyden High School District 212 in Illinois.  We have been fully 1:1 with Chromebooks for the past 3 years and have implemented a Technology Support Internship (TSI) class in our Business Education Department to help support this transition.  TSI is more than just students fixing Chromebooks, however.  They act as Level I tech support for the entire district and students work on their own individual learning pathways when not working on a support ticket.  The class runs every period of the day and last year we had 154 students in the classes between our two buildings.  Leyden was just named a District of Distinction by District Administration for this program (http://www.districtadministration.com/dod/awards/leyden-high-school-district-212-students-take-over-level-1-tech-support).  Here is a link to a little more info: http://www.leydentsi.org/.
