I took this Milky Way shot at about midnight in the back country of Rocky Mountain national Park and light painted the foreground with my headlamp

I just returned from a bucket list photo adventure to Patagonia where I backpacked through parts of Chile and Argentina. When I was a little kid I'd heard of Patagonia, probably from my grandfather who often talked about far away lands. I knew only that there were big mountains there, and that was enough info to make me want to got there someday. Patagonia ended up being a land straight out of a fantasy novel with improbable landscape features. The mountains were vertical spires that shot straight up. Massive glaciers calved into lakes all around. The trees were shaped like pruned bonsais, formed by constant winds, with autumn leaves more fiery than I've ever seen. The weather was ever changing and I had to shoot whenever the weather permitted and accept the light conditions at hand. In this shot near El Chalten, I was first disappointed that there were no clouds. But then walking through this stream scouting for interesting compositions, the sun peaked out at me through the trees and I had an "AH HA!" moment.

Introduction
A lucky resident of Ft. Collins Colorado, try to make friends around the world, and shoot as often as possible.  I enjoy living out of my rucksack or back of my truck, and traveling to mountainous places when life permits.  I'm also a huge veggie gardener.
