Going way back this time for Throwback Thurs. on a more serious note and remembering: "It's good to look to the past to gain appreciation for the present and perspective for the future."
Have you ever wondered how you got here? Sometimes it blows me away to think about...The people that came before me...Who lived and died without knowing me, yet pioneered the trail to make it possible for me to be where I am at this very moment. I have so much gratitute.
This is something I almost never talk about publicly because it's very personal. This is a picture of my paternal grandpa and grandma: Murray Karp from Manhattan NY, who married the very beautiful Rosiland Hozanawitz during the early years of WWII. I never knew them and there's a good chance they never knew of me. I am adopted. But after a 20+ year search I found my biological parents and subsequently a long list of blood relatives who have stories and a connection to my past and present.
Although it's far from a storybook ending, I have a deep feeling of gratitude for what can only be described as God's tender mercies for me that I am here at all. To be given the chance to be a father to some incredible humans, some little and others not so little anymore...Indeed, "It's good to look to the past to gain appreciation for the present and perspective for the future."
