We never really pay attention until things aren't going the way we planned. Here's my thinking behind my recent career move...
We never really pay attention until things aren't going the way we planned, or unless they're going fantastically well.Thankfully, I get to go with option B. This week I start a new role at Twilio, a cloud communications company headquartered in San Francisco. The city is gorgeous, and everyone seems to be catching their breath from the overwhelming potential. Now, I have been a Texan my whole life, and most of that life has been in Austin. Politi...

Join me on the #TChat  radio show and Twitter chat this Wednesday, talking about #recruiting  conversations.

We should teach recruiters and sourcers how to engage prospects in real conversations. Whether it’s on a forum, user group, blog, simple email or any social network, the conversation should always be the goal.  +Bryan Chaney is this week's TChat guest.  Here's the preview:  http://www.talentculture.com/tchat-previews/tchat-preview-passive-recruiting-with-conversation-based-content/

How many incompetent recruiters do you know? +Matt Charney asks a very good question...
There are a lot of people (read: consultants and content marketers) out there talking about the skills gap and the scarcity of "talent."This dire shortage of available workers likely comes as a

What would happen if #Google killed G+? Very interesting h/t +Phillip Tusing
Rumors are that Google might be planning to kill Google+ or at least put it into a Walking Dead-like “zombie” mode, as TechCrunch characterizes it — and something Google denies. There are some good reasons for Google to do this, and potentially, it could allow Google to better fight on the new social battlefield, […]

This #sourcing  post of mine does NOT involve restraining orders. But maybe it should.
I started writing this post as "How to Stalk a Candidate for 24 Hours" which came off quite a bit creepier than intended. This is not that post. You already know how to source candidate prospects for

Want to come work with me at IBM? This is one of three open #sourcing  roles, focused on IT, Engineering and Finance, respectively. If you're in Texas or North Carolina, let's talk.

A public service announcement for recruiters. We can do better.
A message for recruiters. I was on a long trip recently with an in-flight movie option, and thankfully I had my headphones. By now, you've probably guessed which movie was showing. Full disclosure: I

Candidates - here's one that will definitely help you! http://buff.ly/O1ZkrD
Despite dramatic changes in job searching due to today's technology, one thing remains the same: people get people jobs! Studies remain fairly consistent showing that a minimum of 75 percent of positions is obtained by way of personal referral....

Story
Tagline
I love helping brands reach the talent that they need to grow.
Introduction
The game today, is perspective. This tends to help in recruiting as well as marketing, especially on the social media/networking scene where I've developed relationships with some amazing people.

I have spoken at Social Media Club, SourceCon, RISE, ASTD, and PubCon, on social media, career strategy and my recruiting/sourcing experience. As a social media evangelist, I lead the Austin chapter of the Social Media Breakfast series.

Job seekers can join my group called Getting the Gig, where I share information, tips and job leads with members across the country. To take it offline and in person in 2009, I created a career strategy event series in Austin. (see http://careerconnects.org)

Give me some context around what you're looking for when sending that connection request. If I can help you, or point you in the right direction, I will happily do so.
