Thank you Google for creating even more work for me. We really do not need a headline 3 & description 2. Now we need to go update a few thousand ads because you feel the need to create even more work for us. I am now slamming the door and walking away, but don't worry, if my CPR goes up you will be forgiven!

A bit of humor for a Monday morning. Google disapproved our ads over the weekend for using the acronym "CBD"... I am sure it is on many contact us pages, used as "central business district" ... Sorry Google, I do not know my drugs very well, did not realise that CBD was also a drug - "CBD is a natural substance obtained from hemp plants"?? #googlepolicy

Love #GoogleAdWords, this seems to happen a lot when +Casson Media takes over your AdWords account - took over account on 1 May 2018. Slightly higher cost and a whole lot of experience and client understanding can lead to fantastic results.Find out more https://casson.co.za/adwords/

Happy Monday all :) For those of you that use the "Message" extension, do not forget to turn on "Message Reporting" to see more accurate stats on the messages. Previously it was only possible to add a very un-informative, inaccurate column. Now there is far more information available. Read More https://support.google.com/adwords/answer/7532846?hl=en

This is revolutionary :) Can you imagine this AI with a Zulu or Afrikaans accent. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lXUQ-DdSDoE

It is a holiday in Ireland today which is why AdWords call centre says it is closed.

Google trying to help publishers. How do you think this will affect display network reach? Interesting

Google Morning All,

You should have all received a [Action Required] Important updates on Google Analytics Data Retention and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) from Google last night. Let me explain the steps you may want to take both in your Analytics account as well as on your website.

In a nut shell Google will no longer be permanently storing user data and is giving you the option to manage how long your user and event data is held on their servers. You physically need to go into each Analytics account and select how long you wish Google to keep your data for. This change needs to be done before the 25th May 2018.

You will find a new link under ADMIN > TRACKING INFO > DATA RETENTION where you can make the changes. If you wish to allow stats to run as per normal without deletion then you can choose "do not automatically expire" . By not choosing any option a lot of the data will still stick around, however some USER based data will expire after 14 months. https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/7667196

As per the email, I highly suggest that users outside EU still comply with GDPR by using cookie management services like CookieBot or other easily available plugins/services.

Once again, only USER based data will be affected. Session based data (aggregated) should remain the same.

How many of you got the fitting Easter "bunny ears" on the Easter weekend and the weekend that followed? To prevent this happening in the future you can choose to stop your ads from running on public holidays such as Easter (unless you offer products that directly target these holidays). Report comparisons in the first week of April will likely be horrific due to the short week, so keep that in mind during your feedback sessions with clients....
