To my developer friends.

I started web programming 5 years ago and since then, I've read thousands of blog posts and articles on the subject. Occasionally, maybe once or twice a year, I would read one so inspiring that I'd think, " I have to save this somewhere... I don't ever want to forget it "

I used to save them in a folder on my hard drive. Then I put them in Evernote. But this week I decided I should just put the list online, where anyone can benefit from them.

So here they are. I hope you like them. :)

(Huge thanks to the authors: +Peter Cooper , +Tom Preston-Werner , +Marc Grabanski , +Derek Sivers ,+Seth Godin , +Jason Fried, Paul Graham, and Patrick McKenzie)

Every once and a while, us technical people laugh and scoff at the "average user", who doesn't have the "common sense" to create a secure password, or doesn't know how to securely manage the 20+ usernames & passwords they inevitably use. And we're totally backwards.

We've designed a "weakest link" in our security methodology by making it depend on user training. We've passed the security burden onto our users, and that is not OK.

Just put a fun little project up on Github; Imitating classic "After Dark" screensavers using only CSS. Let me know what you think!

If any of you haven't heard of Penflip, it's an interesting project attempting to build a collaborative writing community platform... a "Github for Writers."

Not sure to what degree it can be used for publishing, but it certainly looks interesting.

I've always wanted a no-nonsense image optimizer that I could quickly run all my images through before I put them in my blog posts.

Now, I am complete.

Are you just standing on the tracks?

Try it. It's an interesting sensation, reading this way.

The Future of Reading?

Want to experience the future of reading? Go to this link, and click the "click to spritz" icon at the top of the page:
http://www.spritzinc.com/the-science/

Spritz is a new company that believes it has a better way to read. After trying it, I actually think they might be right - at least for certain types of text.

For each word, the eye seeks a certain point within the word, which we call the “Optimal Recognition Point” or ORP. After your eyes find the ORP, your brain starts to process the meaning of the word that you’re viewing.
...
When reading, only around 20% of your time is spent processing content. The remaining 80% is spent physically moving your eyes from word to word and scanning for the next ORP.

Spritz works by eliminating the need for that eye movement. For me, it really sped up the reading process. What's more, it's a very compact UI, perfect for mobile devices.

Check it out and let me know what you think. I'm curious.

I was here as a missionary and also later as an employee. It has a great atmosphere where you have tons of opportunities to learn and grow, whatever your responsibility is. I've definitely had a positive experience.
