So he's still going to keep making games... But what I want to know is will he keep taking them offline every time they're a raving success?

How did a chain-smoking geek from Hanoi design the viral hit Flappy Bird - and why did he walk away?

Our new game Playing Favorites just went live this week and it's off to a great start. It's a 3-10 player word trading card game where you compete to collect and craft funny phrases. If you get to check it out, feedback would be cool. Thanks!

Hey, guys! My studio just released our new game Playing Favorites, on iPhone/Android!

It's a 3-10 player virtual card game where you collect and make funny phrases and it’s in the same genre as Cards Against Humanity and Apples to Apples. We set out to make a mobile game we could see ourselves hanging out around the coffee table playing together just laughing our butts off, and we hope it'll make you laugh too.

The game is free. Check it out, and please share this post!

This week's Developer Spotlight features Hemisphere Games, creators of Osmos. http://buff.ly/IEUez1
Hemisphere Games’ Osmos might be a perfect game. By “perfect” I don’t mean flawless; I’m skeptical as to whether any flawless games exist. I’m talking about those rare games, like Shadow of the Colossus, whose parts are synthesized in a … Continue reading →

Hey fellow mobile Starling developers. We've been working on a new extension that really simplifies dynamic object placement for fullscreen multi-resolution support.

This extension provides you with a simple straight-forward way to handle fullscreen multi-resolution support without any distortion or cropping.

Basically, it creates a second stage which sits on top of the root starling stage, allowing the root stage to stretch to fit the size of the screen without distorting your assets. The second stage maintains your desired aspect ratio, scaling up using the “show all” or “letterbox” method. The extension provides several properties to easily position your objects relative to screen edges, or to the stage.

If you're having a hard time trying to visualize this, we have some diagrams on our tutorial which should help visualize exactly how it works.

Tutorial:

GitHub:
https://github.com/SpaceBarUp/StarlingFullScreenExtension/

We're really looking forward to hearing any feedback the Starling community has to offer, and please let us know if you think this is something you'd use for your next project!
This tutorial explains how to use the Starling FullScreen No Stretch Extension. The FullScreen extension makes multi-resolution support a breeze.
