At 3rd November of 1993, the first episode of the TV Series "The Nanny" aired on CBS. "The Nanny" is an American television sitcom originally aired on CBS from 1993 to 1999, starring Fran Drescher as Fran Fine, a Jewish Queens native who becomes the nanny of three children from the New York/British high society. The show was created and produced by Drescher and her husband Peter Marc Jacobson, taking much of its inspiration from Drescher's personal life growing up in Queens, involving names and characteristics based on her relatives and friends. The show earned a Rose d'Or and one Emmy Award, out of a total of twelve nominations, and Drescher was twice nominated for a Golden Globe and an Emmy. The sitcom has also spawned several foreign adaptations, loosely inspired by the original scripts.
"She was working in a bridal shop in Flushing, Queens until her boyfriend kicked her out in one of those crushing scenes. Where was she to go, what was she to do, she was out on her fanny! So over the hills from Flushing to the Sheffield's door, she was there to sell make-up but the father saw more. She had style, she had class that's why she became the Nanny....". These are the introductory lyrics to one of the most popular sitcoms of the 90's which was in many ways heavily influenced by "I Love Lucy".
Fran Drescher could not have found a better vehicle in which she could display not only her nasal talents but her exotic beauty. However the same could be said of Charles Shaughnessy, Daniel Davis, and Lauren Lane: neither film actors (albeit appearances here and there) this was the show which brought them to the forefront and made them household names.
Dumped by her wedding shop owner boyfriend, who was also her boss, Fran is reduced to selling door to door cosmetics. But, as she knocks on the Sheffield household door, they are expecting a candidate from the Nanny Agency and mistakenly believe she's the one. Thinking quickly, Fran worms her way into the position and into the hearts of everyone, from the butler to Max to the three energetic children.
While Fran Fine manages the children, butler Niles (Daniel Davis) manages the household and watches all the events that unfold with Fran as the new nanny. Niles, recognizing Fran's gift for bringing warmth back to the family, does his best to undermine Maxwell's business partner C.C. Babcock (Lauren Lane) who has her eyes on the very available Maxwell Sheffield. Niles is often seen making witty comments directed towards C.C with C.C often replying with a comment of her own in their ongoing game of one-upmanship.
As the series progresses, it becomes increasingly obvious that Maxwell is smitten with Fran even though he won't admit it, and Fran is smitten with him. The show teases the viewers with their closeness and "near misses" as well as with an engagement. Towards the later seasons, they finally marry and expand their family by having fraternal twins.
Drescher may play the same role just about every time she acts; however, it can certainly be funny (and is, very much so, here). The kids aren't irritating, and were pretty good right from the start, even if they never got that fleshed out, beyond their one-note defining attributes. All of the cast are marvelous, and their comedic timing is impeccable. This had a lot of cool guests, numerous celebrities from different fields. It also did some nifty parodies and references.
The jokes and gags are varied in types, but the quality is almost invariably high. This has clever, silly, smart and occasionally gross humor, not to mention, of course, a ton of material based around all things Jewish. The sarcastic, witty back-and-forth between Niles and C.C. is excellent.
This lasted for no less than six seasons, and 146 episodes. They also managed to provide a rather satisfying finale, resolving the major stuff in a credible and natural way. The plots remained fairly fresh and interesting throughout, if it did lose a little as it neared the end. With that said, this series always ensured hilarity.
'The Nanny' was shown in more than eighty countries worldwide. In addition, several local versions of the show have been produced in other countries. These shows follow the original scripts very closely, but with minor alterations in order to adapt to their respective country's culture. The remake in Russia was so popular that some original American writers of the show were commissioned to write new scripts after all original episodes were remade.
The long series remained very popular and poked fun of the upper class of New York City, Broadway production, Jewish-American slices of life, and all aspects of human life. There are few shows with this much humor and insight. Among many guest stars included the now late Ray Charles, Eric Estrada, Ben Vereen, Bob Barker and Sally Jesee Raphael, who were 90's celebrities even if they are not today. A truly wonderful show. Much to admire in the acting from all the cast and their chemistry together. Highly enjoyable.
In this tutorial we will go over how to convert an old RC car to work over WiFi or internet using Raspberry Pi 2. So you put geek hats on and lets get started. I have seen few RC Car projects on the web but they either were ESC (electronic speed controllers) based or 4 motor robotic type projects. This project uses 2 motors, one for throttle and the other for steer. You will be able to control this RC Car from any device (phone/tablet/laptop/desktop).
