Atlassian's popular source code hosting site Bitbucket launched Snippets for teams, a collaboration oriented solution to "create and manage multi-file snippets of all kinds". Snippets can be created via drag and drop, owned by a user or a team and optionally shared publicly. They are backed by Git or Mercurial repositories and can be managed via a REST API.

Still, managers often try to optimize utilization and seldom take cost of delay into account. While a high utilization may be appropriate temporarily, it's not a good goal for long-term optimization.

Synchronization and Integration don't have to be primarily a question of a "fixed point in time", but a question of predictability of a system. The higher the predictability of a system (=Team working within a environment) - especially on behalf of "lead time" - is, the higher is likelyhood that you're really able to synchronize. Kanban just has a different approach towards predictability. Not by estimating and "best guess" (and worst case by forcing a deadline), but by real capabilities. In Scrum the team decides the amount of work in a sprint. That's already good, but it's still "gut instinct", if the team is really capable of doing that agreed amount of work within a Sprint - even when I ignore the likelyhood of disruptions in a sprint. And I know, you haven't forgotten that disruptions are quite common in my "flavor" of Software Development. Of course predicability with (timeboxed) Scrum is way better than Waterfall, but I still believe Kanban leads to a even better predictability - especially in systems with a high likelyhood of disruptions.

In the past week, I've been discussing with some colleagues the concept of leading from the inside out. In other words, the outward actions of a leader are internally motivated. People that lead from within usually have a sense of purpose and have a vision for the company that influences their ...
