Google Fiber on Wednesday announced free gigabit Internet service to residents of selected public housing projects connected to its fiber optic service in U.S. cities.

The program was launched at West Bluff, an affordable housing community in Kansas City, Mo., where 100 homes have been connected to Google Fiber. Across the Kansas City area, Google is now working with affordable housing providers to connect as many as nine properties that could reach more than 1,300 local families.

Google described the program as an extension of its work with ConnectHome, an initiative of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the Obama administration.

The 2015 technology IPO market was lackluster. The sheer number of IPOs failed to excite, and the pricing of offerings could have been more enthusiastic. That said, the outcome for companies that managed to pull off initial public offerings is more interesting, and depressing.

For the 2015 crop of flotations, the carnage is real. That could spell trouble for companies looking to go public, or raise new capital.

I love this place! Besides the great food and coffee the atmosphere is just like being with best friends and family. It's all good and owned and operated in the neighborhood. #SouthShoreRising

Great food and coffee served with style, elegance and that undeniable Chatham Charm. This first class cafe is a wonderful addition to this storied community. Now the locals can have a meetup spot to connect, consume and converse. Cafe society comes to the south side and Chatham can be proud! Try the egg croissant sandwich or the home made muffins all made fresh just for you.
