Review contracts before you sign them!

Take the time to review all contracts. You have no one but yourself to blame for the consequences.

#contracts   #consequences   #smart

Read carefully before signing any contract!

Too many artists think they can back track or sue to get out of agreements that they signed if things go bad. While we side with the artists and want things to be more fair for artists. We also think that artists need to step up with a little more honor and have the honesty to pay for the mistakes they make, instead of making excuses to get out of them.

Yes, the music business has its fair share of dirty individuals. If you don’t pay attention some one else can take advantage of you. It is crucial to look at every agreement or contract and have a lawyer review it before you sign. If you do not then you only have yourself to blame when things go bad.

Partial attempts in anything you do, will only net you partial results in what you want to achieve.

Only putting in part of the effort?

Dont expect all of the results then!

Feel Good Folk Rock from Deni Gauthier - Artists Bridge Featured Artist of the Week. 10-1-14

This week's featured artist +Deni Gauthier has been a professional musician for over ten years now. The Saint Thomas, Ontario native is growing a steady following with his feel good music.

Deni is a songwriter gifted with a voice and the ability to accept struggle.  Sometimes hopeful, sometimes painful, and mostly beautiful, his songs manage to bring something out of the everyday. Being referred to as a  "A major talent worthy of greater exposure" by New Canadian Music.

Deni's latest video "Into The West" is a song that was written on a camping trip with his kids. It brings back memories of childhood and the bedtime stories your parent's would tell. You can watch the video at http://youtu.be/0_muQrn5S7o

We have been following Deni for awhile now. He has the ability to touch your soul with his songs. He sings about the daily struggles we have all faced, while reminding us we have the ability to overcome them and of the joy that brings.

Do you ever plan for worst case scenarios?

Or, do you ever have a back up plan?

#expect   #unexpected   #plan

Life is not perfect, so plan for the unexpected.

When you plan for nothing to go wrong, you are asking for trouble. When you budget with a consideration of how things can go wrong. You are setting your self up for a better chance of avoiding disaster.

Plan for delays in the studio, plan for additional expenses in marketing, advertising and promotion. Planning for the unexpected will cause less problems down the line.

Location doesn't fix everything!

There is no magical location that will automatically make you a success.

#location #prepare #music #business

Your problems, issues, weaknesses and strengths will follow you!

The idea of moving to a city like ‪‎Nashville, ‎LA, ‎New York City or any of the major cities to make it can be foolish. Get your self as prepared as possible with everything you can organize before trying for a larger market. More artists, musicians and entertainers are going bankrupt after thinking they just need to be in this big city or that big city.

You have the world at your fingertips by being in a more affordable market. Finding a market that can help you get to more markets is going to help you ten fold. Get over the idea of being found in this city or by that person and get in to the idea of finding the best ways to ‎connect, ‎network, ‎engage and create the foundation of your music. So you can reach as many people as possible all around the world.

Why beg? Your content should speak for itself.

Avoid begging for votes.

Entering contests over and over again, and  constantly asking for votes again and again is hurting more than helping. What you get from these contests is not enough to make up for the fans you are pushing away.

Content is king, not small contests that don't convert and pushes away the average fan. Work to connect with good content instead of begging for votes over and over again!

Be patient and observe.

See how someone / something turns out over time before recommending them.

Read below:

#recommendation   #observe‬   #endorse‬

Check things out, before endorsing them.

Your word is your honor and reputation. If you want your word to hold true, wait before you praise and endorse. Check before you give a grade and look before you leap.

Things can and in many cases still go bad anyways, but taking the time to check something out yourself for a while, before recommending it, is only going to make your recommendations and what you stand behind that much more solid.

The point is, Let things prove themselves over time and over repetition and make sure there is enough proof, results and sustainability before you put your name on it or behind it.

Success doesn't mean you have to be rich or wealthy...

Success can also be relative and subjective, or just simply profitable... not necessarily famous.

#success   #fame   #profit

What does success mean to you?

If you could have a living in music where you were able to tour, record, have medical coverage, and savings for retirement. Wouldn't that be considered successful? There are so many ways and so many different avenues to thrive and succeed in music. Too many block those opportunities, and only go for the fame and fortune.

Think about what success really means to you from a financial standpoint, an artistic standpoint and a long term standpoint. That first step will help you plan much smarter for a career in music or entertainment.

Are your appearing professional at all times?

Sometimes, before you even meet someone in person, they might have an idea of how professional you really are. Read below:

#professional   #conduct   #image

Do you Show up Professionally?

Not just in the performance and the gig it self, but do you show up professionally and act the part from beginning to end?

From arrival to load in to finding the contact point to sound check and even after the show. The actions you display can make almost as much of a positive impact as the performance it self.
