Ever since I first learned about quaternions and octonions I've been fascinated by them. I always wished they could be used to formulate a fundamental theory of physics, but I was never smart enough to pursue it myself. I'm glad others are smart enough and are doing it.
The Peculiar Math That Could Underlie the Laws of Nature. New findings are fueling an old suspicion that fundamental particles and forces spring from strange eight-part numbers called โoctonions.โ https://www.quantamagazine.org/the-octonion-math-that-could-underpin-physics-20180720/

Very cool stuff!!๐๐7w
+Lee McCullochJames more of a short course than a comment +Lee . You got all the math symbols except the octonions.7w
Even mathemaitcs has to submit to physics with its laws of nature. The laws of nature largely determine our life.6w
+Jon Eckberg forget my dis-chordant grapplings, invest 1 hour of listening to Fuhr for yourself; she makes it sound remarkably straightforward if not immediately accessible!
Here is the end lecture: 5min summary of C โ H delivering:
6 triplet representations of SU(3): u, d, s, c, t, b quarks plus antis
6 singlet representations of SU(3): three generations of neutrino, e, muon and tau:
