It's always interesting to consider the views from looking through differing lenses. What are your thoughts about the idea of a skybridge at Preston Center?
From where I sit, it's a band-aid. Skybridges smack of the yesteryear of urban planning. But as a temporary solution to a pedestrian and parking problem, this isn't so bad.

Interesting update on Love Field competition between Southwest Airlines and Virgin America. Virgin is the new entry, trying to build share against the behemoth that is Southwest.

Great news for Dallas? Better fares, significantly bettered range of destination options, price competition; cons? Parking can be scarce at times.

This article piqued my interest as it centers on conversations I've had recently with mentees who sometimes find it challenging to accept "good enough" in whatever they are doing, and then move on to next steps in the process.

Example: I mentor three young entrepreneurs who have a clear vision and passion toward starting a great new non-profit, but the need to get the IRS application, and their website, and their mission statement, etc., all perfect has, so far, stifled their moving forward.

In recent days I've spent time with other entrepreneurs hitting a similar roadblock that has limited their forward progress.

In every case, I've challenged then to step away from the comfort of seeking perfection, on a matter that isn't mission critical, and move forward before they get to perfect. I hope that they are able to embrace good enough and move more quickly toward success!
How settling can make people happier and more satisfied than gunning for "the best"

This is a fascinating idea about the impact that video games have on the tenacity and creative skills of entrepreneurs.  Does gaming experience have a place in your business?  Do you know entrepreneurs who exemplify this concept?  This would be a great research topic for a Ph.D. student!
When I was younger, I used to play a lot of videogames. I’d play them all the time—after school, after dinner, on the weekends. Sometimes I even woke up early, so that I could play them before I left for school. Looking back at it now, I realize that I learned quite a bit from my videogame playing days.A lot of the games I used to play were extremely difficult. Whether I was a ninja, or a marine, or a superhero, I was constantly being tasked with...

Great idea!  How could this work in your business?  How would you suggest the Chamber put something like this to work?

Wow! Do you think we need to cede control on local issues to the Texas attorney general for prior clearance?
TAKE ACTION to stop the HB 540 Nanny Bill from becoming Texas law. This broad government overreach requires asking state's permission for local ordinances.

Wichita Falls television news must
have missed this one. I guess the
ordinances we already have, will
stay. Freedom works, if left alone.

Lenses to Protect from Surgical Lasers Might Resolve Colorblindness

A scientist developed special lenses to protect surgeons' eyes from potential damage when using surgical lasers. A friend who was colorblind tried a pair on one day and was astounded to see objects that had been virtually hidden from him for years. Research demonstrated that variations of those lenses might hold the secret to resolving a type of red-green colorblindness that affects 99% of colorblind cases. Further research suggests that use of this kind of lenses might actually help stop the development of this form of colorblindness in young children.

As a colorblind person myself (I can't see the difference between the two versions of the picture below.), I am excited by this prospect. Being able to see the full spectrum of colors for the first time sounds like it could be an amazing experience!
The California company EnChroma is creating lenses that allow some to see colors for the first time

It is all about the relationship!
Introduction
North Dallas Chamber of Commerce president & CEO since 2011, 30 years as a commercial banking executive and manager prior to that.  I personally enjoy working with entrepreneurial businesses on matters related to their capital structure, banking relationships, marketing, accountability, corporate culture, and governance, and love the challenges afforded me as a chamber executive in working to leave a legacy of leadership on issues critical to our region's continued success - water, education, transportation all high on that list.

I served as board chair for The Concilio in 2011, and now serve on the board of the Woodrow Wilson High School Community Foundation as well as on the Corporate Friends of the Library committee.

Deanna and I are empty-nesters (not counting our two 75 pound boxers!), and we love to travel to Santa Fe and the Caribbean, and you will often find us riding together on our Co-Motion tandem bicycle at local bike events, and camping in our CampLite travel trailer.

Huge dent on passenger side of Toyota Tundra doublecab after getting too close to the fence. I expected to see most evidence of dent eliminated. Instead - you cannot tell there was ever a dent at all! Some small scratches, yes, but NO DENT! Awesome work by Phil. Thank you so much!

Yum! Yum! Yum! We try to visit Emporium Pies every time we are in Oak Cliff. They make delicious fare! I most recently enjoyed a buttermilk chess pie, while others lavished praise on their pumpkin, chocolate and pecan pie siblings. GO!
