I thought the food was great. This is a great place to take a romantic date or hang out with friends. The Stuffed Chicken ( it was fairly expensive like 22 bucks) but it was DEFINATELY worth what I paid for. It melted in my mouth and would have to say it was the best stuffed chicken I have ever had in my life. They cook like this is a 5 star meal at a 4 star price. I thought the service was great and me and my close friend from out of town enjoyed her 30th birthday meal.

My husband and I took a long weekend away from Virginia to Texas in May. I was so excited to try Casey Thompson's restaurant - and the meal surpassed my expectations. As soon as you walk up to the restaurant, you instantly feel comfortable. The outdoor seating was tasteful, yet looked comfy to sit in. Walking inside, the staff was extremely pleasant. Bookshelves, warm seating, and a high ceiling not only made this a beautiful place to eat, but reminded me of my own home with the dark wood and light cream and red accents. We ordered the chicken pot pies, which came out empanada style, and were perfectly cooked. My husband ordered the steak, and I ordered chicken stuffed chicken. My husband, a very "particular" eater, said the steak was cooked perfectly through, and the green beans were set on top of the steak, which added more flavor. His also came with these wonderful little glazed potatoes, which I ate most of. We also ordered hand cut fries, which came with a tasty, creamy dipping sauce. They were hot and sliced thinly - wonderful! The chicken stuffed chicken was phenomenal. A chicken breast with a small leg were served bone-in, with the skin on, but between the skin and the meat was this wonderful ground chicken, lemon, and thyme mixture. The chicken skin was brown and glazed. I was surprised that there were no breaks in the skin when the chicken was being stuffed - something that I'm sure I would do if I were trying to make something similar at home. The chicken came with baby onions, which were tender and sweet. The plate was supposed to come with cheddar jack grits, but as an Irish girl, I preferred the potatoes off of my husband's plate. Even though we were stuffed, we ordered the chocolate cake, which came with some rehydrated dried cranberries. The cake was rich and moist. Brownstone lived up to our expectations, and certainly surpassed them. I wish Casey would consider opening a restaurant in Virginia.

Definitely deserves 5 stars, some of the best food I've ever had. This is a place to go when you are feeling adventurous and you just got paid. What makes this place so special is the Home Style cooking with a unique culinary flair. We tried a number of small dishes to get the full experience. We ordered: Brownstone signature cocktail: perfect, light and refreshing. Pick of the Garden: Salad with very fresh vegetables Grandmother's Biscuit Pan: Lived up to its reputation and then some Flat Iron Steak: Simply a solid, flavorful, "All American" steak Waffle Fries: So-So, I've had better from a street vendor in San Francisco Potato Dumplings: Never had anything quite like it, would order every time I go Custard & Berries dessert: Good, one of the best Custard's I've had. The service met expectations for a 4 star restaurant. The waiter was able to provide insight into each of the dishes. This place needs a solid 2-3 vegetarian entrées. I'm typically 95% vegetarian for health reasons but made an exception for this night. When a restaurant only offers side dishes for vegetarians, you essentially lose that market. Plus, even non-vegetarians would enjoy a dish like sweet potato ravioli. I understand Brownstone changes their menu quarterly with the seasonal food offerings at farmers markets to provide a "fresh" menu. I'd come back seasonally with the changes of the menu and when I have guests in town who want to try something different.

Service was very slow and $5 for a cup of tea was outrageous.

Had a great meal at Brownstone on a beautiful Friday night. Sat outside on the large patio, and enjoyed all the people-watching in the area. Wine list very nice, with nice selections by the glass. Shared an appetizer of venison pastrami, an interesting item which was a carpaccio-style very thinly-sliced peppered venison with a nice spicy sauce. Entrees were scallops (perfectly prepared and very tasty) and, on recommendation, chicken fried beef tenderloin. I'm a northerner, never have had a chicken fried steak, and this was a delicious dish, though not recommended for those on a cardiac diet. All-in-all, very good experience, with helpful wait staff and nice front desk people. Only criticism, no nice bread basket and butter before dinner. Also nice is the gelato store just down the street.

My husband and I sent out to Fort Worth last night looking for a new place to have dinner. We ended up in the cool new neighborhood area near 7th St and the museum district. We wondered into The Brownstone (having already dined several weeks ago at Bailey's Prime, which is across the street). We knew nothing about this place, nor the chef, prior to entering. At first glance, the menu seemed odd, but we were open minded and started ordering. We split a garden salad (amazing grilled polenta crutons), and split the Pork Belly and stuffed blistered peppers for an appetizer. Both were heaven on a plate. I looked forward to my dinner (chicken stuffed chicken breast with grits), and my husband's Quail. Unbelievable. I couldn't believe how fabulous my dinner was. I have dined all over the world and this was truly a memorable meal for me. I can't wait to return. By the way, my cocktail, was the most refreshing summer drink concoction I've had in years. I wish I could replicate it at home! Love this place and can't wait to return. P.S. On a Saturday night, at 7:05pm, we walked in without reservations and were immediately seated. It was packed within 30 minutes, but service was great.
