A little bit of moody B&W reflecting my attitude today.  This was a beautiful spring day but for those ominous clouds over yonder.  I'm always drawn to this spot, although I always end up walking past it two or three times a day during the week.  Unfortunately this was one of those days where I didn't have my camera on me, but I was not going to let it's beauty go to waste...edited in lightroom CC and a little noise reduction in Dfine 2.0
Have a great weekend!

My very first gallery exhibition!  Held at Framemakers Galleries, Cirencester from 25th April-9th May.  These are the photos that will be on show.  So happy and proud that my hobby has finally become something a little bit more.

Cruising Gloucester for the first time and spotted this alleyway... This seems like my kind of pub.  Dark, dingy and plenty of live music.

a little tortilla soup for #foodfriday, garnished with totopos and double gloucester cheese (we have very limited access to mexican cheese here in the uk, but this is a decent substitute).

I visited Gloucester Quays for the first time a few days back and marvelled at the various historic ships (having grown up on the sea in California I have always admired ships of all natures).  This old steam dredger caught my eye as being particularly pretty.  Below is an excerpt from gloucesterdocks.me.uk, full link at the bottom
'Dredgers
     The canal and docks have needed dredging periodically to remove silt created by bank erosion or carried in by feeder streams or by pumping. The last of the steam-powered bucket dredgers, now an exhibit at the National Waterways Museum (picture right), was bought by the Sharpness New Docks Company in 1925, and when it arrived it was designated SND No 4. The obvious implication is that the Company had had three earlier dredgers, but this is not the whole story. The following is based on an article published in Llanthony Log, the newsletter of the Friends of the National Waterways Museum.........
No 4 Dredger
     The Company operated these three dredgers, as needed, throughout the early years of the twentieth century, but as they got older they needed more frequent repairs, which interrupted the progress of the dredging operations. After much deliberation, therefore, a new dredger was purchased in 1925 from the Dutch firm de Klopp, and this time logic prevailed as it was given the next number in the series - No 4. The Fielding & Platt dredger was hired to the Severn Commission and later transferred by British Waterways to the River Weaver. The Bristol dredger had all its machinery removed and the hull was converted to a pontoon called Encore, which now supports the office at Sharpness Marina. No 4 dredger continued operating on the canal until it was replaced in 1981 by a diesel-electric dredger named Thomas Fletcher after the resident engineer who supervised the final phase of the construction of the canal in the 1820s.'

I usually shy well away from HDR, but this one had to be done.  The details wouldn't have survived otherwise.

Photographer (darkroom/iPhone to digi), foodie, appreciator of art, tech and laughter, I'm a bit trashy too
Introduction
Wroughton->Los Angeles->Dublin->London->Cirencester.     Yeah I get around :)
Although born in the UK I don't remember much of it, we moved to Los Angeles, CA when I was 5, and I grew up there.  Then it was off to boarding school in Dublin for a few years in 1998 (I had been far too naughty in LA) Then university in London for many years (4 too many if I recall correctly).  I currently reside in the Capital of the Cotswolds, Cirencester.  All of this has greatly influenced my cultural self and attitude to life.  Hopefully some is represented here in my photography and words.

I am interested in all forms of Art, but I love Photography (digital & film).  I also enjoy art, be it paintings, sculptures, music, anything creative!

I also have a soft spot for all things 'lowbrow' or 'trashy', I'm a classy guy, really :)

I love cooking too, of all varieties.  Spicy and fresh are my favorites.

Underlining all that I am a complete tech geek and father of two crazy kids and three dogs.
