The Tesla Motors Supercharger on I-84 at the Wildhorse Resort and Casino near Pendleton is the closest supercharger to us, approximately 125 miles away. With our 80 amp Tesla destination charger is an easy trip to visit Joseph Oregon and Wallowa Lake. So glad that Select Registry and Tesla Motors made it possible!

Tis the season for the bucks to hang around the house, day or night. This fellow's controlling weeds in the north yard. I don't think he's done battle with our bronze deer (yet).

Madigan doesn't mind too much sharing her fountain with the local wildlife. One of these days we might think about a critter cam

The cat in the photo, by the way, is Madigan.  She does resemble a bobcat but a tad smaller (and bobcat attitude at times!).

A few shots early morning here in Joseph Oregon. The town is festive for the 4th of July and the summer season. We just love the bronzes on Main Street.

Our first official day of needing the air conditioner here in Northeastern Oregon.  Temperature is approaching 90 according to the forecast.  Just means that Wallowa Lake will warm up even sooner for swimming!   #wallowalake   #easternoregon   #oregon

Guests arriving today by tandem bicycle from Halfway, Oregon.  They're taking the center section of the Hells Canyon Scenic Byway.  Her question by phone yesterday, "Where's the summit?"  I sent her to Ride Oregon Ride to see the route profile. It's going to be a cool, wet one but there will be plenty of sunny breaks and scenery along the way.
This is one of the premier bike rides in the state in terms of both scenery and challenge. After a 10-mile downhill warmup coming out of the charming town of Halfway, a left turn begins a gradual 18-mile climb that only gets serious in the last…

Our springtime southern perennial garden is on the verge of an iris bloom invasion. The peonies are making their post Memorial Day showing. The nice thing about being here in Joseph Oregon is that our lower elevation guests can experience Spring all over again.

Iwetemlykin State Heritage Site is a short walk from our bed and breakfast. Beautiful in any season including late winter. Marr Pond is still frozen over.

Time to ship our oriental rugs to Spokane for cleaning and preservation. The folks at RugSpa do a wonderful job of taking care of our floor coverings. A little secret? A special Teflon treatment so the rug fibers don't absorb that accidentally spilled glass of wine or cup of coffee.

This weekend is the 18th annual Bronze Blues & Brews Festival.  A tribute to Etta James is planned.  And, we have last minute availability in the Mirror Lake Suite for some lucky couple.  Being located only one block from the festivities is a big plus.

Beginnings of a lazy summer afternoon on the east-facing front porch. It's our extended living room this time of year. Better leave before I decide to snooze on one of the gliders. . .

We're often asked about the beautiful hand-made coffee mugs and wine coolers we use at the bed & breakfast and sell in our gift shop.  These Deneen Pottery mugs are made in Minnesota by a 1st/2nd generation family-run small business.  Here's the story behind the mugs as it appeared in their local paper, the Start Tribune.   #bedandbreakfast   #pottery
“Making pottery is soulful, joyful,” said founder Peter Deneen as he walked through rooms filled with racks of custom coffee mugs. “It’s creating something you can be proud of.” It’s also proving to be pretty successful.

The Bronze Antler is the best B&B we have ever experienced. From the friendly greeting when we arrived, to the thorough and efficient introduction to the premises, to the extensive assistance with restaurants and places not to be missed, to the fantastic breakfasts - we had a great time at the Bronze Antler. The room was just right with a comfie bed, a huge bathroom and amenities galore. Bill was there when we needed him and the entire place is quiet and beckoning. And we thoroughly enjoyed the other visitors staying there - all VERY interesting people. We enthusiastically recommend the BA to anyone thinking of traveling to Joseph.

This is our second year staying at the Bronze Antler during the car show weekend. We have left each year feeling refreshed, pampered and relaxed. Bill and Heather remember are likes and dislikes and accommodate to meet our needs. The breakfasts are outstanding and gourmet while still being down home cooking. Our room is large and private and the view of the mountains breathtaking! If you enjoy old time charm, big rooms, private baths, attention to detail and luxury you won't go wrong staying at the Bronze Antler Bed and Breakfast. We have already booked for next year!!! See you then Bill and Heather and Maddie:-)

My wife Patty and I stayed at the Bronze Antler last week and we could not be more pleased. Heather and Bill make you feel like house guests, not customers. The room was large and well appointed. Everything was first class. The breakfast was large and well prepared. If we are ever in the vicinity again this is where we will stay.

Not only is this B&B in a beautiful part of the country but Heather and Bill, the owners, made this a really special stay. They are very friendly and treat you like valued family members in their home. The food and company were both amazing. The bed was super comfortable and the bathroom very large and spacious -- and it had all the amenities that you would ever want with lovely spa products. My husband and I were in town for a wedding but we will be going back again for our own vacation next time!

The Bronze Antler...Fantastic! My wife and I were to meet some friends for the fourth of July celebration at Wallowa Lake and it was suggested that we stay at the Bronze Antler. We reserved our room months in advance and were very pleased with the reception we received upon arrival. We were given a tour of the property and of the events and sights in and around the area, and then shown to our room. We spent one night in the Sawtooth Room and two in the Chief Joseph and both were fabulous. The rooms were well appointed, luxurious yet warm and comfortable, and with great views of the mountains. Heather was so kind, having chocolate fudge and cookies out for snacks, hot tea and coffee available at all times, and even waiting up for us after the fireworks, making sure that we returned home safely. The breakfast each morning was fantastic! Bill is a fabulous cook and created some wonderful meals, simple yet elegant and delicious! Heather served us while making sure our cups never ran dry. She was warm and inviting and stayed with us as we ate, joining in our conversations. In summary, the Bronze Antler was a wonderful experience and one that I would go well out of my way for. The attention to detail was perfect and there was not one thing about our stay that I would change. By far, one of the most pleasurable stays I have ever enjoyed. If you are looking for a night at home away from home, make the Bronze Antler your choice.

Bill and Heather (and their sweet cat) were excellent hosts, and great conversationalists. The house is cozy and inviting. The room was comfortable and the bed must have been also because I didn't wake up until my alarm went off and I didn't want to get out. The breakfast was tasty and well-prepared. If I find myself in the area again overnight I will not hesitate to stay at the Bronze Antler.

Though I enjoy the anonymity and privacy inherent to traditional hotel lodging, after extensive research of the area and surrounding areas, I chose to book with the Bronze Antler B&B because the Mirror Lake Suite seemed to offer exactly what I wanted for a quick weekend getaway: Overall close proximity to a Government State Park with easy off-season access to a waterfront recreation site, private entry, an oversized spa tub, a steam shower, individually controlled heat and air-conditioning, Bluetooth, & WiFi. While the pictures on the website were geared more toward romance and couples, I felt confident booking the Mirror Lake Suite for an impromptu road trip with my 12 year old son because it appeared large enough for us to both sleep comfortably (featuring a King sized bed) and listed enough variation in the amenities that we could find things to do on our own (e.g., take a relaxing bath or go online to watch TV or play a game), as well as together (e.g., watch movies, go hiking at the lake). In theory, all combined, these things boded well for our ability to integrate multiple intentions (i.e., not limited to one option; e.g., I could take a long bath while my son watched cartoons) and devices (e.g., aside from the Amazon Fire TV Stick, we had access to digital media via our smartphones, laptops, tablet, and game console) into the B&B’s existing wireless infrastructure, thus increasing our capacity to maximize value. When we arrived, Heather greeted us and helped carry our luggage inside. Then she took us upstairs and showed us the common area, enthusiastically pointed out the drinks and snacks open to us, offered us a cold drink, and then showed us how to operate our suite (via all 7 remote controls!). The suite was much larger than expected and I was pleasantly surprised that the Mirror Lake Suite was essentially a two-room suite with the private bathroom comprising the second room. Both the bedroom and bathroom were large and spacious, thus providing optimum user comfort and privacy. A huge flat screen TV was mounted on the wall above the front door and Bill and Heather were more than happy to get a ladder and climb up behind the TV to connect my Amazon Fire TV Stick into an open HDMI port. In fact, their optimistic receptivity to experiment with the Amazon Fire TV Stick is duly noted as it demonstrates forward thinking, a necessary attribute for industry representatives. By plugging in (integrating) the Fire TV Stick, Bill immediately redefined the TV’s function from primarily static (Blu-Ray/read only) to fluid (i.e., responsive/interactive; e.g., streaming via YouTube), thus facilitating a new sensory experience for their guests (me and my son) at little to no added cost. Ultimately, our stay in the Mirror Lake Suite at the Bronze Antler B&B went almost exactly as we theorized. Breakfast was absolutely delicious and I really enjoyed the contrast from alternating sweet and savory meals. The bed was so comfortable, but the best part is reserved for the bathroom spa amenities. The only problems we encountered were with the WiFi connection around 11 pm on our last night and, after hitting pause once, the Blu-Ray player refused to play our Redbox rental, so we ended up watching Short Circuit from the movie library until we fell asleep.

Anastajia, thank you for such comprehensive statements about your stay in the Mirror Lake Suite. It's the only guest space on the premises with capability for an Amazon Fire TV stick or similar device. Our other guestrooms are more traditional and do not have televisions. We're looking forward to seeing you and your son again.
