Today I had a nice fall on my bike.  Managed to OTB after sliding off a log I was trying to get over.  Good fun!  No photos to share but I might have broken a bone in my left ring finder.  This time I took the ring off immediately.

The worst part was it was at the very beginning of the ride.  I just went on and rode the same amount as I would have otherwise.  Life is pain, you just need to deal with it.

Rode my first fat bike yesterday. Salsa had a demo day at my local mountain bike trail. It convinced me that a fat bike is something I could ride all year round. Also rode a plus bike that definitely felt more like a trail bike than fat bike. I could see one of those as my next bike.

It is a year round bike. Ride it in snow or on trail. It wouldn't replace my tail bike but would be a good second bike. The wide tires make it easier to clear obstacles. All mountain bikes are expensive.

When you stop concentrating on the trail and let your mind wonder to other things, the trail reminds you that it demands full concentration. Still almost 14 miles today of riding.

Fell yesterday on my ride. My left hand took the brunt of the impact. It's a little swollen and a bit bruised.

Hit that +1 if you've used one of these before and reshare if you've used all.

I'll feel that in the morning. That pine tree did not like that I got to close to its friend. Hit one tree with my bars and bounced into another. #mountainbiking

This has been a fairly crash free summer.  I've only had two good ones so far.  Still no broken bones, just a few sore ribs and shoulder.

Road today before it got real bad. I've been getting some good times recently. Started by looking into how I shift. I think I've been in too high a gear most of the time and working too hard while peddling. Working on peddling faster with less force, not harder with much force.

I've had good and bad experiences at Erik's. The sales team does a nice job and I've bought three bikes there. I've also had some really quick t urn around on service. Then I'll have a really bad experiment that kind of ruins it all.

The food is OK but the service is lousy. We didn't get knives and ended up getting them ourselves. Waiting for the food took longer than waiting for the table. Good thing the food is cheap. They only take cash and checks so be prepared.

The course was in good condition but the amenities were poor. No beverage carts or water on the course.
