The Expanse is one of the most 40K inspriring series. Makes me want to run a Rogue Trader campaign.

Late to the party, as I always am. This is a thing of beauty.

The human cultures, with their advanced metalworking and damaged god, came to the limitless forest because of the meteoric iron. There were rivers of it under the roots of the wood. Only the humans could shape it, and no other could stand against the wonders they made.

Yet alien malice had rode down to earth on those tails of fire. Ejected from their heaven. Too vile; too wicked.

They have come up from the deeps.

This guy came up on the twits the other day and I've been going through a lot of his art (again) because it's awesome. Some of my favorite mech work.

I feel like the people who strenuously object to a black Stormtrooper or to Elf- Dwarf action in The Hobbit are the same people who insist on playing a Half-Orc Barbarian or an Elven Ranger and really don't like other combinations.

So in the other other setting that's been fever-plaguing my brain lately, there's this idea that the Basic D&D book is the entire game. Levels 1-3 is essentially all there is.

Now it really isn't all there is. Enter the kind of random advancement that +Jeff Rients has done with a bunch of classes (and race/classes). After 3rd level, you roll on a table of weirdness and get what you get. It's the only way you get higher-level spells, abilities, etc. And you never really know what anyone you meet is capable of.

Just got back from seeing the star war for the second time. Like so many others have said, yeah, it's better the second time.

Been playing a ton of Endless Space 2, which I picked up from Steam a while back when it had a free weekend. It's scratching that old 4X in the best way.

And like the best 4X games, the experience of playing, for me, is a lot more fun than whether I "win" or not.
