An error occured. We suggest that you refresh the page. It may very well solve the problem. If you're a developer, you may be interested in knowing that it's a Javascript error. Checking the console and letting us know what went wrong would tremendously help us improving this application!

“Steph, you were born to draw.” Ask all of my family and friends what I’m born to do, and it’s virtually unanimous: I was meant to draw. Since I could walk, I’ve been a cartoonist. It’s my gift, and everyone in my ...

The notion of the web as an application platform has never been more popular. Single-page frameworks like Ember and Angular make it easy to create complex applications that offer richer, more robust experiences than traditional websites can. But this benefit comes at a cost. Ross Penman tells us what we can do about it.

Thinking about building the next big framework for web development? Get out your notebooks, it's study time guys...

Ben Gremillion from ZURB, and part of the team that created the Foundation framework talks about how to go about actually creating a framework and the "methodology for testing responsively, not just on a case by case, page-from-PSD comp."
Ben Gremillion introduces a system for testing responsively in the Foudation development to make sure that nothing is broken at launch on different devices.

Conformist Responsive Design #userinterface #design
In the early 2010s, the design industry became increasingly aware that designing both web and native applications would require more effort than it had previously. It is argued that before one could achieve market success with a one size fits all desktop or mobile application or website. Designers today are compelled to adapt their designs to multiple display sizes. It is not just traditional laptops and desktops that need to be taken...

Before everyone jumps right off a bridge because this article doesn't say their favorite framework is cooler than the other side of the pillow, read here :

"The article is intentionally provocative. Of course, frameworks have certain advantages, but still, they cultivate ignorance. It's a shame when someone can not solve a problem without a framework and gets stuck in work for days and weeks. In fact, it’s really simple if we pay attention to the right things, to architectural solutions. That’s what I was trying to tell you about. Hope this article will be useful for beginners, and the described approach will make them cool programmers in the future."

Why Tell Stories?

We are often reminded of the power of story-telling in content marketing:

"Your brand has a story to tell."
"Your ability to craft stories will better engage your audience."
"You are an entertainer as well as educator."

However, according to a collection of studies on neuroscience and story-telling, the power of story may go far beyond the mere “entertainment factor” we strive to bring to our content. Consider this snippet from the article:

"When reading straight data, only the language parts of our brains work to decode the meaning. But when we read a story, not only do the language parts of our brains light up, but any other part of the brain that we would use if we were actually experiencing what we’re reading about becomes activated as well.”

So our brains actually engage content differently when the message is embedded in story. We go beyond simply learning, and move into a full experience. That’s powerful to grab onto.

And if you want to know some solid ways to leverage the experience, check the infographic below. Then, click through to the article to learn more about the studies.

When to Use MongoDB

When it comes time to select database software for your project, there are a bewildering number of choices. How do you know if your project is a good fit for a relational database, or whether one of the many NoSQL options is a better choice?

In this webinar you will learn when to use MongoDB and how to evaluate if MongoDB is a fit for your project. You will see how MongoDB's flexible document model is solving business problems in ways that were not previously possible, and how MongoDB's built-in features allow running at scale.
