Why Tell Stories?
We are often reminded of the power of story-telling in content marketing:
"Your brand has a story to tell."
"Your ability to craft stories will better engage your audience."
"You are an entertainer as well as educator."
However, according to a collection of studies on neuroscience and story-telling, the power of story may go far beyond the mere “entertainment factor” we strive to bring to our content. Consider this snippet from the article:"When reading straight data, only the language parts of our brains work to decode the meaning. But when we read a story, not only do the language parts of our brains light up, but any other part of the brain that we would use if we were actually experiencing what we’re reading about becomes activated as well.”
So our brains actually engage content differently
when the message is embedded in story. We go beyond simply learning, and move into a full experience. That’s powerful to grab onto.
