Introduction
I make travel videos featuring hotels, museums, restaurants and quite a few other things. If you love to travel then let us help you plan your next adventure. We'll take you inside hotel rooms, through local restaurants and past the latest museum exhibits. We love the outdoors as well so don't be surprised to see us filming a state park, campground or grabbing some great footage of nature from the top of a mountain or the end of a hiking trail.

We're touring the Lost River Cave & Valley in Bowling Green, KY today. This is one of four 'blue holes' on the property.

For all the people who 'feel sorry' for me because I eat organic.. Here is a look at the 100% organic cupcakes we just bought in Maryland. Right after enjoying organic gelato.

What's better than a day out on a beautiful lake? A day out on a beautiful lake aboard a huge boat with a water slide :)

Do you realize how many people have never ended an evening while relaxing by a campfire? Don't be one of them.

Like the hustle and bustle of a busy city life? Not us. We'll take a secluded cabin in the woods every time.

Does anyone actually use Google+ these days? Every week you hear conflicting reports.. Dead zone or thriving alternative? Either way, here's a new picture for everyone. More to follow.. maybe.

I don't even know what to say about this hotel. I travel over 300 nights a year and am currently chasing Platinum status with SPG as well as the free nights promo for Sheraton. This is how I found myself here, with my family, as opposed to any of the other dozen hotels nearby. Having seen the inside of so many different hotel rooms, it really takes quite a bit to motivate me to call the front desk about an issue. I realize people make mistakes, have bad days and overlook small things. Nobody is perfect, and so I try to understand that as I stay at all these different chains. Some things cannot be excused though. Such as the broken window in the glass ceiling surrounding the lobby/pool. Huge shards of glass just hanging there, waiting to fall at least 50 feet directly down into the pool. You can't try to tell me that hotel staff didn't notice this when I randomly looked up and saw it on the way to my room. Certainly glad my daughter wasn't swimming. On to the room. Our first try getting in wasn't successful as both our brand new room keys would not open the door. Back to the elevator and down to the front desk with all our luggage in tow. Back up again after problem has been fixed to find one of the most disgusting rooms I have ever seen. First, for starters, this hotel desperately needs a renovation. But looking beyond that obvious fact is all of the following. A large booger on the chair in my room, pubic hair on the side of the bed, grape stems on the carpet, burn holes in the carpet, holes in the wall, stains on the wall, filth in the bathtub and what appeared to be some kind of sticky residue in the tub. Apparently I can't upload pictures here otherwise I would share. When management was approached with this, they acted genuinely shocked. As if all these problems were completely unique to my room. Call me a skeptic but if a single room holds this many problems.. Needless to say we'll never stay here again.

It takes a lot to get me to write a negative review of a hotel. As someone who works in marketing, I know that some things are beyond your control and should be forgiven. So with that out of the way, let me tell you why you should be very cautious before booking this hotel. It started during check-in. I am a Platinum Ambassador with IHG so before I arrive I usually check to see if any upgrades might be available. I realize I am not guaranteed an upgrade and so it never upsets me not to receive one for any number of reasons. This time though, I wasn't simply told an upgrade wasn't possible. I was blatantly lied to by the staff member who told me she sold her last two bedroom suite at 3pm that afternoon. Never mind that the website stated multiple rooms were still open of this type even after our conversation and still sat empty later that evening at 11:45pm when checked. Strike two was the apparent presence of the staff members friend at the front desk? I can only assume she didn't work there because she had no name tag or uniform on to identify herself. She snickered as I was told no upgrades were available and then helped setup my room keys etc. Still at this point I am not ready to write a bad review. Next comes the hallways, elevator that barely fits a luggage cart and rooms that haven't been renovated in at least ten years. Our room wasn't even prepared properly as our couch pillows were strewn all over and the toiletry items were thrown on the sink. The final straw was the next morning. We had a standard check out of 12pm per this hotel's policy. We also had a do not disturb magnet on our door as Staybridge uses these versus door inserts or hangers. At around 10am we receive a loud knock from housekeeping who, clearly ignoring the do not disturb sign, tried to enter the room seconds later without waiting for a response. Finally she heard my wife saying we are still here and left. My wife then went down to the front desk and was apologized to for the disturbance and assured it wouldn't happen again. Back in our room the time is now 11:30am (still before the 12pm checkout and still with a do not disturb sign on the door) and the same housekeeper bangs on the door again and tries to enter. This time my wife had to yell through the door to get her to stop trying to come in. Then when we did go to leave we found the housekeeping cart quite literally blockading us in our room. So there you have it. Bad customer service that included blatantly lying about an upgrade, a staff member hanging out with her 'friend' at night, an outdated hotel in need of renovations, a room not ready for arrival and a housekeeper who can't wait to kick us out as soon as possible. That was our experience at the Staybridge Suites South in Springfield, Illinois.

We stayed here on two different occasions on media visits to provide independent coverage of the campground. There are quite a few amenities to enjoy including a swimming pool, splash pad, jumping pillow and full service restaurant. Horseback riding is also available for an additional charge and there are sites available for recreational vehicles (pull-through as well as back-in), tent campers (primitive) and three different cabins including a cottage overlooking the lake. Scheduled activities are always planned in advance and include bingo, hayrides and more.
