Rereading To Kill a Mockingbird before the release of Go Set a Watchman (no spoilers, please!) and it must be a very recent printing.

Today on +Science Friday+Jeff Potter  (author of Cooking for Geeks) reveals the secret to perfectly peeled hard-cooked eggs.
There’s a better way to make hard-boiled eggs—and it doesn’t involve boiling.

Shoveled the walkway less than three hours ago, and now it looks like this. And no, that isn't a hedge or anything lining the path. It's just a big wall of snow.

Me in 1978. My dad posted this to Facebook today, and I needed to archive it for posterity.

Thrilled to find my son's new favorite author (I'm enjoying his books too) has a blog.

I still see no need for an everyday smartwatch. But a replacement for my Garmin watch (fitness use only, for GPS route tracking, running pace, splits, etc.), with longer battery life and some built-in phone notifications? Yes.

Too bad it's not going to be available until sometime in 2015. That's really weird about the reverse charging on your Garmin (you're the second person I've heard with that problem). Mine doesn't do that, but if I leave it for a full day (unused) outside of its cradle, it completely drains. And good luck getting through a marathon on one charge.

If Microsoft is going to skip Windows 9 and go right to Windows 10, why not go all the way to 11? It's one louder … I mean higher.

I made the same remark in a meeting. FWIW, the joke going around is "Because 7 8 9."

For all publishers on all technical subjects, physical book sales at the cash register have plummeted the during 2014 and 2015. You will notice that last year only one week surpassed the same week from the prior year. And this year, not one single week has been ahead of last year. This is a market still looking for bottom. The fortunate news for a few publishers is that direct and digital sales are off-setting the lose of print sales.

I'm really surprised nobody is commenting on the deeper problem with this stamp. Where's the outrage for the egregious comma splice?!
The celebrated poet wrote many quotable lines, but not the one featured on a newly issued stamp in her honor.

Can you spot it? This is exactly the sort of thing I just talked to my chess club kids this week about how much it drives me crazy.

Note to chess board designers: including notation is not necessary, but if you do apply labels, get them right! Think of the children!

Being an editor makes it hard to get behind some chants, even for the home team.
