My first trip to Duna in KSP 1.0. Mirdine, Maxti, and Lynia Kerman. Not enough delta-v for a landing and return. Might be able to land on Ike.

An update on the bike. It's on order. Should arrive soon.
Those who've known me for a while know that I used to do email anti-spam and network security. Unable to find steady work in that field, the past few years have been a slow and not particularly deliberate transition to "something else." As many of you may have guessed by the increasingly frequen...

This is a thing. This thing goes "ding." This thing goes "ding" and makes me sing. I sing of this thing. This thing that goes "ding."

We have an almost Pavlovian response to the World of Warcraft level up noise - it just feels good. Cleared out your work email inbox? That's a ding. Made it through the intersection on a yellow light? Ding. Those Chinese food leftovers are still good? Ding ding ding! What's your #dingworthy moment today?

Reading about jumping spiders today. Researching possible greenhouse biocontrol. Issues are "how many jumping spiders can be how close to each other".  Also this article shows that aggression behaviors differ between males and females. Male spiders size each other up through displays of aggression and frequently back down without fighting. Females have more at stake and will often simply fight to the death.
Male jumping spiders (Phidippus clarus) size one another up before engaging in a fight—whether the aggression is based on rights to mating or territory—and in

Leeks, ladies and gentlemen. This picture doesn't really give much hint as to the size, but these are BIG. They're just samples of what I'll be harvesting tomorrow.

A player of an online game was so good at cheating it became a problem for others in the online world of Guild Wars 2. So they gathered evidence of his exploits, made a case to the developers, and ...

Wow.  Congratulations!  Wish we could have contributed.  I realized today that we should get a bike rake for my car in case we need to transport you somewhere, and my other transporter is broken and won't beam you anywhere.

If you're only following me on Google Plus, you'll likely miss this.

I'm raising funds for an electric assist bike to get me to and from my new job, farming.

One of the oldest and largest family-owned farms in Kitsap County. Abundantly Green has been operated by members of the same family since 1892, and was a farm as far back as the 1880s. Their barn was recently placed on the local historic register. They are a diversified farm, a rare and wonderful thing these days, with a full herd of beef cattle, chickens, ducks, geese, laying hens... and lately pigs from a neighboring farm. They sell a great variety of fresh produce from their farm store, local farmer's markets, and through their Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program. They have CSAs for every budget, and even a workshare program were members volunteer a few days a month in return for a fresh bag of veggies every week. If you're passionate about food, why not buy directly from a farmer? I've had good experiences with them as a business, taking advantage of the workshare CSA. This year, I helped harvest potatoes and garlic, and once a month helped pluck chickens. Owners Marilyn Holt and Clifford Wind are friendly, personable and passionate about providing top-quality organic produce. They're always in need of new customers, because as small farmers, they don't compete for space on store shelves. You want the really good produce, you need to come to them. So, yes, I wholeheartedly recommend Abundantly Green. They grow excellent food. Go introduce yourself to a farmer and buy from them.
