Just signed up for Google Contributor - remove ads but still pay the websites. Seems like a fair trade, so I'm giving it a try :-)
Contributor by Google, which allows you to pay to reduce the amount of ads you see on the web, is making some changes to its billing. The service will now only charge you for what you use, and refund the rest of your contribution.

"Though I am not an authority to comment nor suggest on the banning of four of the books related to Islam, I was taken back and surprised on the ban on Baha’ullah and the New Era, an introductory book about the Bahai faith, originally written by J.E. Esslemont and published in 1923..."

RECENTLY, the Home Ministry banned five publications. The ban was made under the Government Gazette P.U. (A) 270-274, dated Nov 26. The reason given was that the books contain elements that could confuse Muslims and damage their faith.

Had a chance to check out Gear VR and it was incredibly impressive. Dramatically better than Google Cardboard but also way more expensive :-)

Nice ambiance but we didn't find the food to be that good. We had Kung Pow Chicken ($20) and fried dumplings ($7). More expensive than other places we have been to.

This is the second year we have had a bad experience at H&R Block. Last year at a different office we had a preparer who made several mistakes while doing our taxes (which we caught while he was doing them). And then a few months later the IRS sent us a refund because he had incorrectly calculated my estimated tax!! This year we decided to try a year-round office with full-time staff -- hoping that they would be less likely to make mistakes. Unfortunately, it was nearly the same. The preparer made several mistakes and a few times had trouble getting the computer to enter data in the proper way. He didn't even ask me about my IRA contributions! Then, after two very frustrating hours he told us the the charge for the tax preparation would be over $500! Our mistake for not asking in advance. But we found another tax center that has glowing reviews on Google and Yelp, will only charge $300-$350 for the work, and will not ask us to sit there while they prepare the forms. Anyway, we will never go back to H&R Block. Our advice -- ask them in advance what your actual charges will be, and know enough about your taxes so you can oversee how they fill out your forms. Actually - just go someplace else :-(

Pretty good bagels. A bit too doughy for me but when I scooped the bread out of one side they were much better...
