Google is pure chaos now. Core products and services I thought Google would provide forever are being shut down, others are being completely redesigned. I'm glad I had already taken a step back from their eco-system before all of this happened. I'm not saying it's all bad or that they shouldn't do it. I'm just saying that everything has to be re-learned. But honestly, I'm a little disappointed in what Google is doing. Hopefully Google will figure out what they want to do.

Well I learned something about Google this year. Google doesn't care about the happiness of it's users. It's sounds bad, but it's true about most companies. I just thought maybe Google was one of the awesome companies that does. Google just cares about profit. It's not evil, just sad. They innovate and improve because it makes them money. They try and see if radical new ideas are profitable, and if they decide the idea isn't profitable, they drop it. Don't get mad, just realize that at any moment Google can change or eliminate your favorite thing.
As a result of learning this, I've broken all loyalty to Google. I got a Windows phone instead of an Android, I use Facebook Messenger instead of Google Talk, I've even started using Bing for my web searching. I just use whatever works best for me regardless of if my 'my favorite tech company' as a similar product. I still use Google Maps because it's better than the others. If Mapquest creates a better map I'll go there.
I don't hate Google, and I'm not against it. I don't love Microsoft or Apple either.
Google loves money, I nothing Google.

This has been my life for the last six months. And I've got at least 6 more months of it in my future.

I'm on Google Reader everyday. I read about 300-500 articles per day with Google Reader. I've searched for an alternative for over a year and nobody does rss reading better than Google Reader. Now Google is shutting it down. EFF YOU GOOGLE. Seriously. If you need me I'll be over at briankotarski@me.com #DeathToGoogle

A little bit, but
1) it's a way for Google to get around Carriers and
2) It would require no special hardware installations on the stores behalf.
Everywhere that accepts credit cards, would accept Google Wallet. So, if the option to not carry any cards isn't available, the next best thing would be to only carry one card.
