“Every historical film, fiction or non-, has to have relevance in the time it’s released. This one’s relevance to the just-concluded U.S. election could not be clearer if the doc makers had scripted it.” The Toronto Star

We're Taking on Alcatraz!
Thanks to the generosity of supporters like you, Team in Training teammates have raised over $1.4 billion in the past 25 years. As I train, one mile at a time, I know we are making a difference in the lives of patients and their families. Our hard work will allow them to experience longer, better lives.

Please help by making a 100% tax-deductible donation to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society by donating online via my personal fundraising website –

So close- less than $300 away from my fundraising goal. Thanks so much to those cancer fighters who have help so far! I'm doing the SF Alcatraz Triathlon August 21st- 1.5 mile swim, 23 mile bike 6.1 mile run. Let's find a cure! Can you help?

Each donation helps accelerate finding a cure for leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma. Nearly 958,000 Americans are battling these blood cancers. I am hoping that my participation in Team In Training will help bring them hope and support.

Dear Friends, Family and Fellow Cancer Killers,

I am writing to you to let you know that I have clearly lost my mind and decided to complete another triathlon. Why run, bike, swim, sweat, sit in ice baths, lose toe nails, and endure miles and miles of muscle pain, you ask? I’m doing it for all of those who can’t. Some people can’t because they are in treatment for cancer and some can’t because they have lost their battle.

In the time it takes you to read this email, someone in the US will have been diagnosed with a blood cancer, and a few minutes after that, one of those patients will lose their fight. I have chosen to do something about this—take a stand and become a warrior in the battle.

Over the last few years, I have been raising money and awareness to support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society through their Team In Training Program. I am training to complete San Francisco Alcatraz triathlon on August 21,2016, and have set a goal of raising $2,500 to fund the research that will find the cure for cancer. I am only a couple weeks away from my fundraising deadline and still have a ways to go to meet this goal.

For those of you who don't know - that is a 1.2 Mile swim from Alcatraz Island, a 23 Mile Bike ride though San Francisco and a 6.1 mile run... Yes, I'm tired just thinking about it.. ;-)

I am participating in honor of all of those affected by cancer.
The battle to fight cancer, is a very personal. My mom is at risk into survivor. My grandmother Rose and my cousin Mark, both lost the battle against Leukemia . Several of people in my life are currently fighting the battle today. And in the last few years since I started this fundraising- 8 of my donor/ supporters in this effort - have lost their battle to this tenacious for- cancer. The oldest of those was only 53. I'm sure you know someone in your life who has been effected by this disease.

Thanks to the generosity of supporters like you, Team in Training teammates have raised over $1.4 billion in the past 25 years. As I train, one mile at a time, I know we are making a difference in the lives of patients and their families. Our hard work will allow them to experience longer, better lives.

Please help me reach my fundraising goal by making a 100% tax-deductible donation to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society by August 9, 2016. You can do this by donating online via my personal fundraising website – http://pages.teamintraining.org/calso/sftri16/bkalata.

I can assure you that every dollar and every mile gets us one step closer to the cure. Someday IS Today. We are accelerating innovative treatments today. We are saving lives today. We are creating cures today. We are inspiring hope today. We are changing the face of cancer forever.

We are changing the world together.

With respect and gratitude,

Brian
Go Team!
