Been a while since posting to my g+ account but I hope to get a little more active in the near future.

Just a few shots from Mt. LeConte in the GSMNP this past weekend.  This trip was more about the journey than the photography.

Took this one cold night in February, overlooking the Chickamauga Lake.  The lights from a barge can be seen on the water (lower left) and a couple of flights turning base to CHA can be seen in the lower sky.

Finally found a dark place close to home where I can leave my gear for a couple of hours!  Tonight was nice as the call of the Sandhill Cranes could be heard high overhead.

First attempt to stream out a short video of the images I took for a star trails shot.  Thanks to a borrowed intervalometer, it made capturing the 92 images easy.

The light trail on the left is an airplane +Rodney Dixon.  I went back to look at the individual frames to confirm.

A cold and harsh winter comes to this apple orchard on the Cumberland plateau.  Quite a different appearance from the fruitful bounty it provided last season.

The Martin X-24A, one of a fleet of "Lifting Bodies" tested by NASA in the 1960''s and 1970's.  This is one of several "X" planes that can be seen at Wright Patterson AFB, but you do have to take a bus to this hanger from the main museum.

Many folks are familiar with landing footage from an earlier version, the M2-F2, which was severely damaged and seriously injured NASA pilot, Bruce Peterson.  This is the footage shown in the opening credits to "The Six-Million-Dollar-man".

Took advantage of the clear sky view from the backyard last night.

The night time sky this past winter kept me occupied and insulated me from an unsavory time of life.

Yes +Mike Mohr.  I quite enjoy the patterns they leave in the sky although many edit them out.

+Mike Mohr, this is the result of 92 images stacked on top of one another using a free app called Startrails. Each was a 40 second exposure, ISO 1600, f4.0. Shot these at Gee Creek last night just over an hour, it was about 19 degrees! I use a Canon T3i with the 18-55mm kit lens.

It's 63 degrees now but 4 days ago, the polar vortex brought many frozen scenes to our area.
