It's Green

What’s this? First drink attempt using the Skittles-infused Vodka from my dear friends Thatch and Dawn! Starting simple, ¾ oz of green Skittles Vodka (lemon-lime?), ¾ oz Vodka. Shake with ice, strain into cocktail glass and garnish with a lime. Boy, that lime barely looks green compared to the Skittles! Tastes like, well, Skittles…

Salty Dog

1 ½ oz Vodka
5 oz Grapefruit Juice
¼ tsp salt

Add all ingredients to a glass filled with ice and stir. Garnish with a sprig of parsley. A great brunch drink, especially for those of you who don’t like tomato juice. (And I know there is no parsley in the photo, but I was fresh out!)

Vincow Somba

1 oz Vodka
1 oz Triple Sec
1 oz Pineapple juice.

Mix in highball glass.

This very simple recipe makes an enjoyable sipping drink. A bit fruity, but not overpowering. I have no ideas
about the origin of the name or the drink. Do you?
Drop me a note if you know where this came from.

Okay, we are getting back to the early years of my old Friday Night Cocktails tumblr. This one was posted 5 years ago. Fair warning that the quality of the mixology and of the photography is going down as we go back in time. But don't worry! Once I've got all those posted, I'll start posting some new recipes.

Dark and Stormy, redux

1 ½ oz Gosling’s Black Seal Rum
3 oz Ginger Beer
Lime

Here's how to make a Dark and Stormy that really looks dark and stormy. It's hard to get a good photo of it, but you'll end up with a black cloud of rum floating over the ginger beer, with dark wisps drifting down into the fog.

Pour ginger beer over ice in a low-ball glass. Float rum on ginger beer and garnish with a lime wedge. Serve with a cocktail straw, as you'll need something to stir it with!

This may seem like it ought to be part of my technology collection, but only if you think the right to send letters in envelopes or make telephone calls are also technology issues, I don't.

This is an excellent article on just how wrong the FCC is on their interpretation of how the Internet and ISPs work. Also, why we all need to comment on this proposed rulemaking.
Contact the FCC About Net Neutrality
"This analysis [by the FCC] is like saying that because someone built a bridge, they also created the entire city on far side of it. It’s absurd.... Anyone with a modicum of technical knowledge will find this interpretation truly wrongheaded and entirely incorrect. It’s hard to think of this as anything other than a willful misrepresentation of the facts."

I have a new technique for determining which websites are designed solely to sell ad impressions, with no attention to the accuracy or quality of their content.

I simply view it on an iPad 2 connected via a 1.4mbps DSL connection. If the content hasn't loaded after 15 seconds or so, I know I can ignore that website in the future.

Livescience.com? Tons of adware, no content. I won't be visiting here again.
