One can only assume that Death would whip out Tomb of Horrors on his ass.

Google Volken: I need a logo for a web app I'm finally getting around to launching.  The name is 'abstractica', and the idea is to create a game-engine API so people can build and tune game mechanics from a library proven techniques.  This is for both online and quick prototyping of board games and RPGs.

I'm 100% terrible at logos - the representation I'm going for is something like 'game fundamentals' or 'core components'.  I don't need finished logos, just ideas for a direction to jump in.  Integrating it into the text of the name (abstractica) a bonus.  Any ideas?

I like the idea of spelling ABSTRACTICA in big, thick, bold letters, all caps. Then make breaks along some of the thickest lines, in the shape of poorly connected puzzle pieces. If the letters are thick enough, have the last few letters far more puzzle-y than the first, so it looks a little like a puzzle gradient.

Remember: The name of your game isn't everything, but it's STILL something to consider!

Quick question for the codemonkeys in the crowd: I need a lightweight IDE for Java (for class) that's not Eclipse, which has now failed me twice in the same week.  I'm on Ubuntu, so that's very revelant to IDE choices.

Thoughts?

Jason Fried occasionally spouts crap, but this article really nails a bunch of things home about what is wrong with the tech industry's mindset (hell, American corporate mindset).

Finally figured out that AdBlock Plus Beta was blocking all of Google Plus, so I'm going to start actually using it again.  Huzzah!

Hello all!  I've recently Kickstarted a board game that I've developed called Bluebeard! - the central idea being that there are several mini-games that influence what happens on the central game board.  There are four, currently, including a card game called Bloody Royals that I'm spinning off into a separate card game.  Please check it out, and if you have a moment, pass this along to your networks.

Thanks!
