This was in my "watch later" list for ages. Such a great video. Many of us have been in this situation, I'm sure.

I don't necessarily agree or disagree with these points of view. I watch these videos for the awkward grin at the end. Cracks me up every time.

It's the Hobby Zone Champ RTF for anyone wondering (like I was). An inexpensive (sub $100) beginner's plane. He's modified it to have a removable main wing using rare earth magnets.

This is actually one of several reasons I won't be pursuing a career as a teacher. I love children, I love teaching, and I think I could make a difference. But these sorts of attitudes have been spreading for as long as I can remember. As such, it is no longer safe for me to become a teacher, despite the fact that two of the best teachers I ever had in public schools were men. The only harmful and abusive teacher I ever had was a woman. It has nothing to do with gender.

I totally agree with you. It's too bad, you, and lots of other men, would be great teachers!

I made a new game!
So, I've had my head buried in a fun project over the last couple weeks. I want to share it with you. The basic concept was that I wanted to make a game with transparency in the sprite sheet, but w...

Thanks for the suggestion. It was more of a challenge to use Paint and Notepad than an issue with not knowing what tools to use. I have several image editing tools I use that allow transparency. I've tried GIMP (didn't care for the interface--I still have it installed though) but my preference lies with Paint.NET (made by some of the guys on the original team that developed Microsoft Paint) for most projects.

I only introduced a non-Windows-included tool late in the game because I didn't want to check and see if the old Sound Recorder was still packaged with Windows and Audacity was sitting there in my Tools folder waiting to be used for something. :)

Again, I was limiting my tool set purposefully, but thanks!

Very important and informative. I had no idea this was even an issue. Luckily it hasn't ever come up before, but in the future I'll be prepared!

It's looking great, I just want to offer my opinion on something.

That synchronized blue scanning effect in the HUD is very distracting to me. I feel like a little randomization in the sequence would help, plus maybe backing off the effect a little (it's pretty strong). Maybe even a little visual noise mixed in with it for even more variety and less uniformity.

Of course, if uniform and synchronized is part of the effect you were going for, that's fine. I just found it to be really strong and distracting.

A fantastic set of counter-arguments to the "Solar FREAKIN Roadways" video. I'm not saying I agree with all of this guy's arguments, but it surely raises a lot of important questions and issues that the original video overlooked.

No problem. I'm still interesting to see if these issues can be overcome, but the likely outcome is that a few experimental parking lots will be built (they can just help power the businesses that own them), but I kind of doubt we'll see more action than that. We will have to wait and see though. :)

Everything.

This is every little JavaScript application that I've coded thus far. Well, almost everything. A few very small and specialized tools didn't make it in, and even though I found a folder with some of my earliest practice documents, I decided not to include those either. Also, two or three (possibly big) things didn't make it in because they were embarrassing.

Other than that, this is everything.
