User with an odd problem when creating events

I'm looking for suggestions on what to do about an odd problem a user in our GAFE domain has reported.

When creating an event in Calendar, the list of users/contacts in Add: Guests is empty. The list of resources in Add: Rooms, etc. is populated as expected.

If the users logs out of his account and signs in again, the Add Guests list will be populated for a few minutes or a few hours, and is then empty again.

This has happened for several weeks. Windows 10 with the current version of Chrome. (Chrome has updated a couple of times since this started happening.)

Have you seen this behavior before? Any ideas?

Has anyone implemented DMARC in your Google domain?

We're just getting started with it, and I have several questions. Some of the questions may not actually make sense, due to my lack of familiarity with DMARC...

I just added the DMARD record to DNS (policy = none) to generate reports only, and I am getting those reports via email. What are your suggestions for how to parse and interpret the reports? Do you have a favorite tool that you use? Is it possible for me to see anything about the emails that were flagged (e.g., sender, recipient, subject line)?

The next recommended step in DMARC implementation is quarantining some percentage of suspicious emails. What effect does quarantining have in a Google Apps domain? Where is the email quarantined? How is it reviewed for approval/rejection?

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Looking for a secured text editor for non-standardized testing

I would like to use Chromebooks for students who are permitted to type essays when taking exams.

I'm not looking for options with standardized testing - I'm looking for a simple text editor that can be used in kiosk mode to prevent a student from opening other documents while writing an exam essay. Ideally, the environment would not have grammar or spell checkers.

We don't administer any standardized tests, so I don't know much about this topic. Any suggestions on what I should look for or how I should proceed will be appreciated.

I can't reply directly to Herbert Washington's question about getting info on teachers in his domain...

Google Apps Manager (GAM) is a free command-line tool for Windows, Linux, and Mac OS. It will do what you are looking for.

Get started here: https://github.com/jay0lee/GAM/wiki

Configuration will take a few minutes and requires access to the Admin Console: https://goo.gl/3GIv5a

The specific command that you want is:

gam print users query "orgUnitPath='/Faculty & Staff'" allfields todrive

This will dump a list of all users in the specified OU into a Sheets file. You can work with it from there. Depending on how your OU tree is structured, you may need to use multiple commands to get every account that you want.

Other variations of the command will produce specific data on each user. See https://goo.gl/1VQVHk for the full list of options.

Need advice on Chromebook configuration...

We have several Chromebook carts that are shared by students. They are managed through the Admin Console.

From the beginning, I have had them all configured for Public Sessions so that I could force the CB to log out and wipe local data when the lid is closed or when it was idle for x minutes. That has worked well for us until recently. Now, I am running into extensions that will not run in Public Session mode.

I am now looking for ways to re-create the features of public sessions that I want (forced log-out and local data wipe when the lid is closed or when idle). I can make the CB remove local data on sign-out, but I can't find a way to configure sign-out on closed lid or sign-out on idle.

I would appreciate any thoughts or suggestions. Is there another way that I should be thinking about this?

GAM - Google Apps Manager - got a new big feature yesterday.

GAM version 3.51 adds the ability to delete email messages from user accounts in your domain.  You can specify which email accounts to look in, and you can search for messages to be deleted by using the same syntax as you would use in the Gmail search box.

GAM also now has several features related to Google Classroom.

Get the installation files and read installation instructions - https://goo.gl/0pVAZL

I'm having a problem with My Maps configuration in my school's GfE domain.  I'm looking for suggestions on what to look at next.

In Drive, the New button does not include My Maps as a file type option.  When I double-click on a file listed in Drive that was created by My Maps, I get a preview of the map instead of the expected behavior (the map opening in My Maps).

When I point my web browser to google.com/mymaps, it opens and works as expected.  A map create in My Maps appears in Drive as expected.

So far, I have:

 - verified that the service is turned on for all OUs in the admin console

- cleared browser cache

- disabled all browser extensions

If I switch to my account in other GfW or GfE domains, everything works as expected (map files open wen double-clicked, My Maps is an option in New menu).

In the accounts from other domains (that work correctly), under Drive Settings | Manage Apps, the Google My Maps app is listed as installed and as the default.

In the school domain (that does not work correctly), *Google My Maps* is not listed as an installed app.  When I tried to install it, it failed with the message that it conflicted with Google Search or Google Calendar.

I have tested this with my account on multiple computers, and with a newly created test account.  I get the same results in all cases.

The domain is on Scheduled release.

Any ideas for what to look at next?

Off-line Slides presentation with looping on a Chromebook?

Is it possible to show a Slides presentation in a continuous loop on a Chromebook when the CB is offline?  I tried using the link generated by Publish to the web but that doesn't work when the CB is offline.

(Our admission office staff sometimes attend school fairs where the WiFi coverage is spotty or absent.  They want to use a CB to run a continuous display of images.)
