Are you interested in developing and selling products? Seems almost silly to ask, right?
Are you interested in developing and selling products? Seems almost silly to ask, right? Seems like everyone I talk to wants to make a product and leave the world of client work behind. Designers, writers, and other freelancers, but also lawyers, realtors, consultants … you name it. Even those who love working with clients wouldn’tPlay Episode

The average multi-millionaire has seven different sources of income. But that’s not what you hear about, is it? That’s not what gets the press.
The average multi-millionaire has seven different sources of income. But that’s not what you hear about, is it? That’s not what gets the press. Instead, you hear about The Game. You know The Game … get funded, make no profit. Even better, make no revenue, cash out big, retire on an island. This is mostlyPlay Episode

Are these 3 mental shortcuts holding you back?
further: feature It’s often hard to accept that our limitations are largely in our own heads. Personally, every leap forward in my adult life has been the simple result of a change in the way I think. A growth mindset is not usually characterized by unlimited forward progress, but more like an irregular staircase of …

Great article +Brian Clark. The three cognitive biases are so powerful, it takes a lot to overcome them but it is worth it.

For you solopreneurs and freelancers ...
I’ve been referring to myself as “unemployable” for many years now, and it’s a common joke among entrepreneurs and freelancers. For me, I’m not sure I’m joking at all. Of course, the literal meaning of the word “unemployable” is no laughing matter. There are way too many people in the world who have been leftPlay Episode

Great conversation with Pamela Wilson about the future of Copyblogger.com.
Copyblogger.com started it all on this particular crazy portion of the journey. It’s constantly evolved over the years, and it’s about to take another giant step forward. When you strip away the fact that Copyblogger has historically been the mothership platform for our company, you realize that it’s essentially a membership site with free andPlay Episode

There’s a joke that says an entrepreneur is a person who works 80 hours a week to avoid working 40 hours a week for someone else.
There’s a joke that says an entrepreneur is a person who works 80 hours a week to avoid working 40 hours a week for someone else. It’s more about freedom than anything else. According to a recent Fast Company article on the future of work, soon people will put in 80 hours a week justPlay Episode

I promise this show is not all about me ...
After 17 years and nine businesses, I’ve run the gamut of roles and levels of sophistication outside the traditional world of employment. It’s been quite a ride. When I look back, I can identify 4 distinct phases that I’ve gone through, one of which may correspond with where you’re at currently, or where you wantPlay Episode

Here are the essentials of the research, as recited by author Oliver Burkeman: In 1953, students graduating from Yale University were asked by researchers whether or not they had formulated specific, written-down goals for the rest of their lives. Only 3% of them said …
