Make sure to jump on the email list to ensure you never miss an issue of Further!
It’s counterintuitive that imagining the "worst case" would enhance performance. But this approach to mental toughness is nothing new from a philosophical standpoint.

We love Further and all the research Brian does to make this interesting, relevant and always (of course) intelligent.

This article perfectly describes facing the worst case scenario  and how to manage that worst case scenario.

We use a process called Introvision that doesn't manage the reaction to the worst case scenario.

Introvision defuses the alarm that triggers the Amygdala that activates the fear of the worst case.

The result? The worst case scenario does not trigger an emotional response in the mind and body. The scenario still appears but the mind stays clear and in that clarity comes choice; a decision made from mental clarity and not fear.

 Sounds crazy but it works.

It was first developed in Germany in 1986 by educational psychologist Angelica Wagner at the University of Hamburg who was trying to lower stress among her students.

We are the first people in the US to be trained in the process.

Keep writing Brian, we are avid fans.

Or, how not to lose your mind in traffic.
further: feature So, I’m driving down Broadway in my hometown of Boulder, Colorado. Ahead of me are two Subarus, pacing each other like they’re in love … so no passing is happening. Even better, they’re both going at least 10 miles-an-hour under the speed limit. This is an all too common scenario in Boulder, and …

The new issue of Further is hot off the digital press ...
further: feature It’s been amazing to see the “secular selling” of meditation over the last few years. While many purists object to what they deem McMindfulness, there’s no doubt that the emphasis on performance benefits is a smart way to increase awareness and the level of mainstream participation. Modern proponents of mindfulness tout the results …

Awesome article. I'm embarking on this habit effective with my first 890 words in a post last evening. I went with a private WordPress install locked behind an IP filter that only lets me in.

further: feature You could always count on ol’ Henry Ford for a few things, notably black horseless carraiges and pithy quotes. The citation above is one of his most famous and ubiquitous motivational sayings. And, it turns out, he was exactly right. Extensive studies into human psychology show that what we believe about our ability …

Perhaps the Cards Against Humanity font and color scheme are less appropriate for a motivational quote these days.
