Marvin Minsky was one of the greatest minds of our time. His pioneering efforts helped lay the foundation of artificial intelligence, robotics and many many more areas we take for granted.

R.I.P. Marvin. You will be dearly missed Marvin and I'm glad to have met and been able to spend time with you. God speed.

3/366 - This street shot was snapped braving this busy intersection in Hanoi, Vietnam. I particularly like the motion of the motorbikes and the bright colors. Hanoi at night is buzzing with action and life. #project366 #photography

BitwiseHacks- Introducing HKIS's First Hackathon for students

HKIS is hosting a Hackathon for students on February, 20th, 2016. BitwiseHacks is a 24 hour soft/hardware development event that focuses on the topic of the “Internet of Things”. Participants will need to work collaboratively and generate creative solutions with real life challenges for 24 hours. This event is targeted to MS/HS students in the region who are interested in software/IT development.

The theme for this year is the Internet of Things (IoT).  Mobile devices are everywhere. With the breakthrough of wireless communication and the capability of new IT standards (e.g. IPv6), everyday objects can interact remotely in split seconds. What are the possibilities of using this new tech approach to solving problems and tackling global challenges? Join us in bitwisehacks 2016 and be ready to be challenged and inspired!

For details, please visit http://bitwisehacks.com/ or email Hamlet Lin halin@hkis.edu.hk

Terrible service. They acknowledged being under staffed, yet never an apology. Not even a visit from a manager. Also, never told us about the kids menu until we saw it on the floor. We arrived 11:50am and food arrived 1:50 pm. 1/4 of order never came before we had to leave.

This is a favorite hike of ours here in the Southern district of Hong Kong. Although much of this trails inclines are concrete steps it has its charm in some of the rocky trails and bamboo shade. The Twins is a challenging hike for beginners, but they will be rewarded with stunning views of Stanley, Tai Tam Country Park and the South China Sea. There are several ways to start this hike, but the main trailhead begins on Stanley Gap Road. By bus alight at the Wilson Trail stop. Enjoy and bring plenty of water and a camera to capture the stellar panorama views.

Staff was very welcoming, polite, and accomodating. The Springhill Suites staff (from the shuttle driver to cleaning staff) provided much needed respite after an extremely disappointing day of travel. Thank you.

First, had an excellent meal. There was a bit if confusion about how well done my Black Pepper burger was and my wife's salad sans dressing, but it all worked out and we chalked it up to opening night jitters. Wait staff was very accommodating and provided the corn cobbler appetizer. The appetizer was really good and my wife said that she never would have ordered it, but now that she had it, she would order it every time we dine there. I like the size of the burger and the fries are crispy and the right amount. You might wash it all down with a custom brew from Young Masters, but you'd be better savoring each bite and sip of this Hong Kong custom brew. Beef & Liberty is a nice addition to Stanley Plaza.
