Distilling the headline: Crazy people say Museum is pushing Science.

<ugh>
Young-Earth creationist Ken Ham—whose non-profit organization has benefited from millions of dollars in subsidies and tax breaks—says that the Smithsonian's recent acquisition of a nearly complete T-Rex fossil is an egregious use of American tax dollars to fund "the religion of naturalism."

In lieu of Google Fiber, I'll gladly take some GigaPower from +AT&T.

Fingers crossed they'll choose Houston as an early rollout site. :)
Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Atlanta are in line for an upgrade.

I was working on fiber to the home technology over ten years ago. I got laid off in 2009 due to the recession. The company chose to focus on growth in Asia and Europe instead and invested in mobile and wireless. The advantage that fiber-optics has always had is that it is laser light and immune to electrical interference unlike radio waves. You can strap a fiber-optic cable right beside a high voltage transmission line. The big telcos and the international standards organizations are never interested in speeding up the delivery of new services until they have competition. When you get down to the street level it turns into a battle between contractors, city government and right of way agents. The focus should be about improving the lives of consumers but it always ends up in a struggle on how to best capitalize on the new technology.

Mrs. Doubtfire is getting a sequel? No. A thousand times, NO!!!!
Robin Williams is set to reprise his role as the granny who can hip-hop, be-bop, dance 'til ya drop, and yo yo, make a wicked cup of cocoa. Yes, a Mrs. Doubtfire sequel is in the works, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

+Shawn Allen - Someone will pay to see it, but I wish they wouldn't encourage it by spending their money on it.

In honor of the inevitable, spring onslaught, of our pine tree's pine nuts by the squirrels: You're Gonna Love My Nuts

Good luck getting that out of your head anytime soon. :)

I, for one, hail our new, slightly athletic,  Robot Overlords.
Honda's humanoid robot, ASIMO, recently celebrated its 14th birthday. The diminutive android has experienced some minor upgrades over the years, but nothing quite like it's latest batch of enhancements. Just watch what ASIMO can do now.

A family meal time is great, but lets be honest, it's a cop-out for spending real  time together as family.

It became popular because it's the lowest common denominator; we don't spend any other time together, so lets eat food at the same time. Let's kinda-sorta talk, while we're kinda-sorta eating. It's fine, but if that is your barometer, then you're doing it wrong imho.
Family dinners aren't just for the holidays. They actually have benefits far outside of sharing that ham or lamb feast among people you care about.

Yes, the big picture is a lot bigger than we think about most of the time. True, as long as the planet keeps spinning we should do our best to enjoy the ride.
