(Sent here via a nastygram by Robert Šebo? Read this please.)
I grew up at Lake Tahoe (where no, we didn't just ski all day), then moved to Fremont, CA for my high school years. After that I got degrees in Applied Math and Computer Science from UC Berkeley.
Since then I've lived all around the San Francisco Bay Area while working in the video game industry
(where no, we don't play games all day). I was lead programmer and co-designer on the award-winning adventure game "Grim Fandango
" at LucasArts before joining Sony Computer Entertainment America, Inc. where I've worked for fourteen years now running a large portion of the developer support group. (That means I spend my workdays making sure great people get great help to make great games for great consoles.)
I live in Castro Valley with a terrific wife and two ridiculously cute children, a loyal pup, an aggressively affectionate kitten, and an indifferent iguana.
Improbably for a lifetime geek, I've become something of an endurance sports person. After finishing my first marathon with Team in Training in 2010, I worked my way down a list of sprint-distance triathlons, then ran the Brazen Racing "Ultra Half" trail half-marathon series in the summer of 2012. That helped me train up for my second full marathon in December 2012, CIM in Sacramento (which I finished despite all odds being stacked against me). I've also run a summer relay race around Lake Tahoe with friends and family more than once, and did the Run For Your Lives 5K zombie obstacle course/race in Onalaska, Washington (very fun, totally unlike normal races).
