Dave,

Just a suggestion since I did not see this option.

If you want a large saw (anything over 14") then pack in the bow saw.

Else ditch the extra weight and get a arborist grade pole saw blade with tri-cut teeth, curved blade, and hook at the front.

Example:
http://www.sherrilltree.com/Professional-Gear/Saw-Blades-22/13-Thresher-Blade-by-Sherrilltree-with-hook#sthash.9SYg729Z.nKGR0sTE.dpbs

I have used one of these blades with a heat molded PVC handle for years. Cheap and cuts WAY faster than any bow saw....guaranteed. I bolted the pvc handle to the blade then made a pvc sheath for it. Less that $20 and you have a super saw.

I have seen you advocate the Bahco and I know its nice and compact but it will not hold a candle to the blade I listed above. Trust me...or rather yet, trust the arborist community that cut millions of tons of wood a year.

Another reason to use the tri-cut saw blades is that they can get into tight spots because they do not require the bow portion.

Good vid! The yellow polymer bag is made from Kapton. Same thing you see in electronics (mobile devices where they use surface mount technology). Google Kapton tape and you can see all of the thermal properties of the substance.

Peter,

Reading your new book currently (downloaded from Amazon) and I must say you have done a great job so far defining the next steps necessary for the Atheist community.

I am having difficulty with the definition of faith being "belief without evidence". I think you will find very few people who will say (not having it projected on them, but rather they themselves actually speak the words), "I believe X and I have NO evidence for believing X". Most people in this life have some kind of evidence for why they believe something. Whether YOU (caps for emphasis, not shouting) believe that their evidence is crummy, thats your belief but they, in turn, may believe your evidence is crummy too...so all of a sudden you're in a battle of subjectivity between you and the other person about whos evidence is "better", given your definition of "faith". In the end, both parties will claim, "I have evidence."

Here is another implication of your definition: Assuming the accepted Atheist definition of faith is true (belief without evidence) and that most men will give some form of evidence for what they believe, then it stands to reason that no one has "faith"...not even the "faithful" (from the book). Because everyone has some form of evidence whether others see the evidence and believe is not required by the Atheist definition of "faith". I hope you caught that.

So by using this definition, it follows that all beliefs (including atheist) are equal. This makes the purpose of even trying to define the word "faith" almost meaningless at best. At worst, this excercise in trying to define the word "faith" does nothing but prove that Atheism is as much a "faith" based belief/religion as anything else. Because for Atheism to claim, "We dont have / use faith, we have reason" opens the age old debate concerning Certainty. Here comes the slippery slope...

If you define "faith" as "belief without evidence" and you say you do NOT have/use/need faith in any of your beliefs, then reason (which you encourage the use of) says, "You therefore must have evidence for EVERYTHING you believe." Is that true? Do you, Peter, have evidence for everything you believe? If so, is ALL of the evidence first hand? Or has it been by word of mouth? Or maybe you accepted the evidence based off an authority figure? How can we know they can be trusted? Did they have first hand experience? And how can you be certain that your evidence is not flawed by bias or by a bad chemical? Is it possible that your sources could be wrong? If there is possibility for correction on truths we claim(which the scientific method praises), then can you say you have 100% certainty that your evidence is even leading to correct truth? These Cartesian style questions could go on and on....but if you see anything, see that you now have a gap...a gap in the epistemological system of the "reason only" worldview. NO ONE, not even Atheist, can say they have 100% certainty in the evidence much less 100% certainty in their conclusion (what they claim as "truth"). This leaves a gap...what do you fill it with? Faith? Well, yes...Atheist have faith...they must, and here is why...

In order to have complete 100% certainty for a truth, one must have limitless ability to gather knowledge of that truth down to an infinite degree else there will always be the possibility of UNCERTAINY. Infact, Skepticism's claim is that uncertainty will always exist unless you are omniscient/omnipresent/omnipotent. For others reading this, let that sink in.

Continuing on...assuming all that i wrote above, reason demands then that there will always be possibility for uncertainty, and someone claim " I KNOW X to be true" is most irrational.

It is interesting that you, Peter, such a rational and reason-loving individual as yourself do not see that the definition of faith you give is at best speaking out of both sides of your mouth and at worst cutting your own argument to the ground by proving that unless someone is "god", an individual will believe, not just one, but thousands, heck even millions of things without full certainty. So the greatest problem in the world right now is a "faithful" group of Atheist claiming they "do not need/use/have faith"... eh, I call bologna.

So let me ask you, how does the quote, "faith is an irrational leap over the improbabilities"(Loftus) therefore not also show that Atheist display faith in their beliefs (so called "Reason")...unless your claim is that there is no truth in which you lack certainty? Improbabilities are out the window for you then...but thats not your claim either... because your definition of "Atheist" says that there is at least a small probability that there is a god ...

so I guess you are not 100% certain afterall...yet you say you do not have faith (belief without evidence)... Which is it? Are you 100% certain of all your truth claims? Or do you exercise faith (according to your definition) in your Atheism?

For those of you that have read the book, "Peter is pretending to know things that he doest know so that everyone else will stop pretending to know things that they dont know."

Boy that sure is confusing, Peter.

I have been quite tongue in cheek at some parts but all in good fun. I hope you get to read this, though lengthy as it is, I do truly do want to know your thoughts. Thanks!

"Guns are not for defense...thats a myth."

I think this police cheif needed a script with someone to proof read. He just said the most non-sensical utterings of this whole gun control debate. Then again he is from California...
