First off, awesome pace, dude!  I've been doing this for 28 years (http://whatbrendonthinks.com/2013/09/26/i-am-a-runner/) and you're breathing down my neck :-)  I share your anxiety about small races.  I DEFINITELY prefer large races.  My first two halves of this year were under 300 runners, and then I did Capital City which had 1,549 runners.  BIG difference.  I was pushing Brynn in her stroller and every time I started to pass someone they would say something along the lines of "Way to go! That's awesome!", which was very motivating.  It also helped immensely that I had a friend to pace me at the beginning, keeping me from Brendoning and starting 1-2 min/mile faster than my target pace (like I usually do).

Keep up the great work!  It has been such an inspiration to see you get excited about your health and make such amazing strides (no pun intended) in your running throughout the year.  I can't wait to see how you do in the Madison Marathon!

I decided I wanted to have music for the South 5K next Friday, but I wanted to make it all the same tempo.  In order to do this I needed to know the percentage adjustment that I would need to make, which requires knowing the target tempo and the original tempo.  I didn't find any tools that I liked for determining the original tempo, so I made a quick JavaScript tool (best language ever, evar, EVA!).  It's posted on dropbox if anyone is interested.  The "Adjustment Percentage" is the value that I used in Audacity with "Effect" -> "Change Tempo..."

And another race coming up is the RivMX5K which Riverview Church in Holt puts on to raise money for their mission trips to Mazatlan, Mexico with Back2Back Ministries.  I'll be getting off a plane in Detroit  around 5:00pm that day, so don't know if I'll make it or not, but who knows...

If you're free next Friday night, would like to support Volunteers of America, and enjoy running, walking, and/or eating, come out to South Church for the Family Fitness 5K.

This will be my first paid race of the year and the first stroller run of the year, so we'll see how it goes ;-)

I found a group of runners at http://www.meetup.com/Mid-Michigan-Running-Meetup/ and met up with them for the first time today.  It was nice to have some people to talk to during my run and I look forward to catching up with them for some more runs.

Not the group I went with, but some video of Caravan Ministries.  Talks about the purpose of Caravan and shows a home being built.
