That is the rare and elusive red-maned hummingbird (trochilida equus) long thought to be extinct.

Let this be a lesson to us all about the dangers of the slippery slope. Why Walmart? Why?

Of course, the slope started when Walmart began censoring rap and other popular music sold in its stores. But hey, that's different.

This is a relatively recent cartoon, and one of the ones that has been reprinted the most often - usually in union publications. (I'm really proud of having my cartoons in union pubs.) Cartoons like this are fun to write, as long as I'm not in a hurry - I just write thirteen or fourteen ideas and then dump the ones I like least. It definitely takes longer to draw 11 tiny panels than it does to draw 4 bigger panels, though.

<p...

+Sordatos Cáceres , union corruption is a real thing. I agree. We have had our own problems with that here in the United States. Also, some of our trade unions could be a lot more supportive of minorities and women (for sure). But that's not why unions are getting attacked in the U.S. No one who's spending big money on attacking unions here is doing it because they think unions are corrupt, discriminatory, or taking advantage of their members.

This tracks with my personal experience. I was born and raised in the Old South. I was very conservative in my youth. I see a lot of the "old me" in this article. Some people who have known me for all if not most of my life wonder how I could have "changed so much".

I think that if you read this article with an open mind, you will find it very easy to come to a lot of the same conclusions as the author especially if you look at the article in the context of what you see being discussed daily in social media.

I love the author's closing paragraph ...

"Our modern Confederates are quick to tell the rest of us that we don’t understand them because we don’t know our American history. And they’re right. If you knew more American history, you would realize just how dangerous these people are."
Tea Partiers say you don't understand them because you don't understand American history. That's probably true, but not in the way they want you to think. Late in 2012, I came out of the Lincoln mo...

Yay team.
There was a time when noncompete agreements, which ban employees from leaving their company for one of its rivals, were mostly reserved for powerful executives and other highly paid professionals. But lately, they've been popping up in an increasingly comical assortment of industries, as businesses have sought out ever-more elaborate...

The food and atmosphere are excellent, as is the draft beer selection. Service was great as well.

On March 24, 2015, I received an incredibly creepy and scare-mongering voice mail directing me to call this company in order to get home security protection. It's far from what I would expect from a reputable firm, especially since I have no business relationship with them and the number they called is on the no-call list. I'd stay far away from them.

Fair, responsible, reliable, reasonable, skilled -- what more can I say? I've a Saab owner who's been bringing my cars to Lakeshore since they first opened in 2002, and I have never been disappointed.
