Possible Winter Weather Could Affect Saturday Commencement Planning

As Brenau prepares for its 2016 Winter Commencement ceremonies, the university is watching the weather forecasts for the weekend.

Currently, the ceremonies are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17. Some forecasts show a small possibility of ice and freezing rain very early Saturday morning. In the case of an ice storm or other inclement weather, the commencement exercises would be canceled in the interest of the safety of graduates and guests traveling from across the region.

Make sure you are signed up for e2Campus notifications at https://www.e2campus.com/my/brenau/. Updates will be posted to https://www.brenau.edu and all social media channels.

Because the event is scheduled just before the year-end holidays, we will not reschedule. Graduates will receive diplomas and copies of the program by mail.

Tami English, executive director of student life, showed the elementary school students around the Gainesville historic campus. She said that the purpose of Thursday’s event was to show students the life of an average college student. The Riverbend students were excited for the experience. “We dissected pigs today, and I’m really excited about college,” said fifth-grade student Halle Pierce. Halle loves biology and dreams of being an OB/GYN when she grows up.. She is also considering attending Brenau University. Read full article:

Brenau University held a grand opening and ribbon cutting for its new veterans lounge as part of Veterans Appreciation Week. All five Brenau University campuses are now equipped with a lounge and resource center for student, faculty and staff veterans, according to Rosanne Short, director of Military and Veteran Services.

“They have experiences other students don’t understand, and they’re often older than the average student,” Short said. “It’s a whole different world from what other students have known, and they deserve a place where they can be with people who have shared their experiences.”

I'm a grad of both the Women's College and Graduate school. Brenau gave me a good education and an even better network of women alumni that understand the challenges ahead for the next generation. This is a solid investment that pays in your hearts, if not in your wallets.

I applied in November 2014 and have yet to begin online classes. The communication from the admissions/enrollment department is far less than desirable. No phone call followups, no return emails, and now I intend to email the department head so I can have my financial aid returned to use at another school. Very Disappointed....this school used to have high standards and a good reputation.

Brenau University was my first choice in colleges and has definitely proven why. This university has helped me become a more confident, intelligent woman, ready to take on anything coming my way-and I'm only beginning my sophomore year! I feel that I have truly gained so much from this institution, and if you're looking for a women's college in a great location, this is a great option!
