#Social Media Apps That You Don’t Need (or Want), But Should Try Anyway -- My newest post on the +Portent blog!
Sometimes when you’re a social media strategist (or, really, just a human with a smart phone or tablet), you get stuck in a routine that involves the same few social media mobile applications. Whether I’m on the bus or about to go to sleep, I find

My newest post is slightly more serious, but addresses a non-issue that the media insists on making an issue: #Gay athletes in the locker room. Also, congratulations to Michael Sam for coming out and showing #LGBT youth that your sexual orientation is not a deterrent to your talent.

Why #social media marketers matter in the crazy world of digital marketing:
If you work in social media, you’ve probably heard “Why?” more times than you can count. “Why does this matter?” “Why is social media valuable to my business?” “Why should we be paying you to help us?” I’ve been working in the social

I went to Pierced Hearts to get my ears pierced, and it was a great experience. From the front desk to the piercing, everyone was very friendly and informative. The piercing itself was easy, and I wasn't at all nervous or scared (thanks to the piercer, who explained the whole process beforehand). The place was very busy, which was also a good sign. Overall, I highly recommend Pierced Hearts!

We tried Toro Bravo for the first time last weekend for our 5 year anniversary, and it was incredible! We got there, and the wait time was about an hour and a half, but we just went upstairs to Secret Society (also a great place) and had a drink while we waited. From first sitting down, our service was amazing. I absolutely recommend doing the Tasting Menu, where the chef decides on 6-8 courses to send over. Every course was so good, and we got to taste a lot of different items. From the decor, to the service and of course the food, this place is a must-visit! Don't let the long wait push you away -- it's totally worth every minute.

I purchased a Living Social deal to this place for a car detail, and I had a terrible experience. This place is only open Monday-Friday, so I had to bring it in during work hours to have it detailed. I thought that I could drop the car off and pick it up before they closed for the day, but I was informed that they are "not a parking lot" and that I can "wait an hour for them to be done." So, I went across the street and waited an hour and a half for them to detail my car. When I returned to pick it up, I noticed that the garbage that they found in my car (Starburst wrappers, plastic water bottle, etc...) was placed on my seat instead of being thrown away. I also noticed that it wasn't up to my standard of clean -- which, to be fair, I had purchased a Living Social deal so I wasn't going to be too picky. I went in to get my keys and I was informed that I had to pay $2.86 for tax. I pulled out a $20 because I had no smaller bills and he informed me that he did not have change. I gave him my card, and he was not going to run it for that little of an amount. I was forced to go look for spare change in my car, because he would not accept my larger bill or a card for the tax. If a company does not want to honor a Living Social deal with respect, then they should not offer Living Social deals. Needless to say, I will never return to this shop as it wasted 2 hours of my day and I was treated with absolutely zero respect. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
