Abundant moisture, aided by a remnant tropical system, will set the stage for more heavy rainfall across the central US into this weekend. Next week, another large piece of energy is forecast to dive into the central plains then eject northeastward, bringing widespread rainfall to much of the central and eastern US.

We ran the HazWRF3 at 4km resolution over the strongest cyclone of 2014... Super Typoon Vongfong, which is in the Philippine Sea and is expected to move toward Japan... When these storms are out in the ocean, they are often hard to size up... Well, for kicks, we plotted the storm over the US mainland to give an idea of just how large of an area it would cover!
