Patrick Riley, Entertainment Journalist

Born in Tokyo, Japan and raised in Savannah, Georgia, Patrick graduated Atlanta's illustrious Morehouse College cum laude with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. He is currently based outside of New York City in Ridgefield Park, New Jersey. As an independent producer, personality, and writer for a little more than a decade, Patrick's clients include (or have included): HARPO PRODUCTIONS, OWN, CNN.COM, NBC, BET, "Motown: The Musical", AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION, "The Wendy Williams Show", "Anderson Cooper", New York Public Radio/The Greene Space, AT&T, ESPN, DUBOSE ENTERTAINMENT, HURRICANE PRODUCTIONS, I-STYLE TV, CROSSWALKS TV, LEVI'S, REMY MARTIN, COMCAST, and HBO. In front of the camera and behind-the-scenes, the now multi-media journalist --- with a concentration on entertainment and pop culture --- has had the opportunity to interview and produce stories on a number of high-profile celebrities and newsmakers --- including DIANA ROSS, PRESIDENTS BARACK OBAMA & BILL CLINTON, BEYONCE, MARY TYLER MOORE, MASTER P, GWYNETH PALTROW, QUINCY JONES, TYLER PERRY, JENNIFER HUDSON, to name a few. His BLOG 'A DAY IN THE LIFE OF RILEY: POP CULTURE & POSSIBILITIES' (http://thelifeofriley.squarespace.com/rilys-blog/) has a steadily growing readership that gets a front-row seat into Patrick's life, assignments, bookings, etc. He waxes philosophical and "pop cultural" on all aspects of his world and the industry at-large. In 2009, Patrick served as field and story producer on two HIT reality shows "Monica: Still Standing" and "Frankie & Neffe".

Patrick's writings in the blog have inspired - among others - 'NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams' (on-line) to call on him to weigh-in as a pop culture pundit on topical issues - one of which, an explanation of Barack and Michelle Obama's 'pound' on the night he presumptively snagged the Democratic nomination, is the #1 video in 2008 on MSNBC. Other outlets that call on Patrick's pop culture expertise include TV One's "Life After"; ARISE 360 Entertainment; COZI-TV's WNBC News at 7p; BET's 'Don't Sleep - Hosted by T.J. Holmes' & 'The Truth with Jeff Johnson'; 'Your Morning' (CN8, Philadelphia); 'Our World with Black Enterprise'; AT&Ts 'The Hugh Thompson Show'; the 'New York Post'; CUNY-TV's 290 West 40th news magazine show; BlackAmericaWeb.com; Atlanta's High Museum, the Dance Theatre of Harlem; Remy Martin, etc. Patrick is also called on periodically by New York City's #1 commercial radio station Z-100s mid-day personality Shelley Wade to weigh in on pop culture and all things 'American Idol'. And over the years, he's landed a number of spot host slots - including TLC's 'Pros and Cons: The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly', ESPN-2's 'Cold Pizza', and 'tvQ', a pilot he co-hosted for Hurricane Productions. Patrick has received a number of industry nods for his work, including awards from the Atlanta Association of Black Journalists, the Atlanta Association of Media Women, etc. He is currently writing his first book, a collection of narratives called 'BIG WILLIES & AMAZING GRACES: gay men and their best girlfriends'. Patrick -- who sings as a sidelight – is the former chair of NABJ's Arts & Entertainment Task Force and has served on the Board of Directors for NABJ, as well as the Atlanta Association of Black Journalists and the New York Association of Black Journalists, which have twice honored Patrick - as a Trailblazer (2013) and as 'Volunteer of the Year' (2004).
