I'm Brandon Keim, a freelance journalist specializing in science, animals and nature (and generalizing in technology, biology, sustainability, anthropology, cognition, health, medicine, bioethics and quite a few other things.) Presently I'm working on projects involving the inner lives of animals; the difference between doing things by hand and on-screen; and a glossary of forgotten nature words. I'm also the co-founder of an insect-based cat food company.
My work has appeared in publications including The Atlantic, WIRED, National Geographic News, Aeon, Nautilus, Scientific American Mind, The Guardian, Audubon Magazine, Mother Jones, Conservation, NOVA and Stanford Social Innovation Review. I've made broadcast appearances on NPR's Science Friday and Here & Now, PRI's The World and CBC's As It Happens.
